Glossary pair (PAIR): Two things together that are alike, or almost alike, make a pair. Some things come in pairs, like shoes or mittens.
rectangle (REK-tang-guhl): A rectangle is a shape with four straight sides and four corners that are alike. Did you know that all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares?

shapes (SHAYPZ): Shapes are the common forms or outlines of objects. Flat shapes, such as squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles, are two-dimensional shapes. Or you can call them 2D for short! square (SKWAIR): A square is a shape with four straight sides, all the same size, and four corners that are alike. A square is the same any way you turn it.
