EFFECT A card is freely chosen from an ordinary deck. You tear off a corner and hand it to a spectator as a receipt. The rest of the card is replaced in the deck and inserted back into the box. 'Watch This.' you say as you walk up to a window and hold the box behind the closed curtain for about two seconds. As if it were your own private theater, you open the curtain and reveal a card stuck on the window. Its back is showing and a corner is missing. 'What was your card?' you ask. You then flip it over and stick it back on the glass. Yes, it is indeed the selected card! Now for the strange part- The spectator walks up to the window to match the corner, but all of a sudden realizes that the card is actually stuck on the OUTSIDE of the glass! He's wondering how this could be possible. After all, you just turned the card over a few moments ago. But it gets even stranger. The big payoff- You take the corner from him and slap it against the window. It instantly and visibly sticks to the glass on the OUTSIDE of the window! That's right, both parts of the card are now stuck on the outside of the glass! It looks surreal because they're spaced slightly apart but obviously fit together perfectly. PREPARATION Before the performance, choose a card and tear of it's corner (Top left). Stick it on the outside of the window pane you are going to use. As for the torn corner, stick a thin metal behind it, then apply the slightest wax/gum to the edges of the corner, and stick it behind the card. (Position it in such a way where if the corner is being moved diagonally, the torn edges will fit the edges of the card) Come back to the other side of the window, take another card (doesn’t matter), tear of a corner of the opposite side (Top right). Flip it over revealing the back and stick it onto the window pane, hiding the card behind it. Finally, cover the card with the curtains or anything else. Take another deck of cards, and place the exact same card as the first card. Keep a piece of magnet which is small enough to be concealed within your fingers. METHOD To start, take out the deck of cards and ribbon spread it. Ask the spec to point to one of the card, and slightly pulling it out above the rest. Now, square up the deck, making sure that the chosen card is still protruding from the others. Now, pretend to cut the deck to the spec's card. Instead, hold a firm grip on the first card (pre-defined), and when you pretend to move the top portion, allow the first card to slide down on top of the spec's chosen card. Immediately after performing the false cut, square up the cards again, including the spec's card, and at the same time, take up the first card. Perform this quick and fluently, and it would seem like you have just performed a cut to the chosen card and picked it up. Show the spec the card, and tear of the corner AS IDENTICAL as the one you’ve just torn. Give the corner to the spec, and return the torn card to the deck, and into the case. While holding the case, walk up to the covered card. Pretend to make a whatever-cool-looking move, and while explaining that the torn card has just penetrated both card case and

- curtain /cover/whatever, open the curtain/cover/whatever to reveal a torn card with it’s back facing both you and the spec. Now, here’s a special and important move. With the spec standing to your RIGHT, move forward and reach out your RIGHT hand towards the card, pretend to flip the card over, but instead palm the card and bring your right hand casually back to your sides. Misdirect the spec by asking him/her if it’s his/her card. Next, have the spec match the torn corner with the card. The spec will eventually realized that the card is actually BEHIND the window, instead of noticing the different jagged edges. While the spec is still being stunned, take out the magnet from your left pocket and conceal it in your left hand’s fingers. Now, take the corner from the spec with your right hand. Pretend to transfer it to your left. Hold your fingers closely together as you move your hand towards the card. On contact with the window pane, make a pushing motion from the center of the card to its corner (Diagonal movement). By doing this, you’re actually using the magnet to pull the hidden corner (behind the window) to move into position. The little wax that you used will not be powerful enough to stop the magnet from moving the corner piece. Once you’re done, immediately remove your hand from the window. Have the spec inspect the card, and while he/she is doing it, pocket both corner and magnet. COMMENTS Pretend to flip over the card, move your hand from left to right. Illusion looks like you're taking hold of the left side, and with a left-to-right motion, flipping it over. While doing this, palm the card. Or for a better effect, bend the card in half while maintaining your motion. This will create the illusion of the card being halfway-flipped.
