ABOUT THE AUTHOR

E U L L. Wachtel is CUNY Distinguished Professor at City College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He did his undergraduate work at Columbia, received his PhD in clinical psychology froin Yale, and is a graduate of the postdoctoral psychoanalytic training program at New York University. Dr. Wachtei is the author of, among other books, Family Dynamics in Individual Psychotherapy (with Ellen F. Wachtel), The Pooerty of Afluence: A Psychological Portrait cf the American W a y oj- Lqe, Action, and Insight, and Therapeutic Communication: Principles and Effectice Practice. He has lectured and given workshops throughout the world on psychotherapy, personality theory and development, and the applications of psychological perspectives to social issues. Dr. Wachtel has served on the editorial boards of numerous journals spanning a variety of perspectives and concerns, including Psychoanalytic Psychology, Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, Political Psychology, and the Journal of Social Distress and Hornlessness. He was one of the founders of the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration.
