Dedication This one’s for my fans, thank you for encouraging me to write Solron’s story.
Chapter 1 Sarah knew death would come, she only wished it would come sooner. Her captors kept her alive because it amused them to inflict pain and watch her suffer. In the back of her mind, distant memories of a home far away still lingered while hunger gnawed at her empty stomach. Forgotten was the smell of fresh air. Once, so long ago, she knew the sweet scent of cool mountain air and the feel of the wind wrapping around her body. Now, she inhaled in shallow breaths the foul, musty stench of her own feces, blood, and remnants of decaying creatures inside her small, cramped cell. At first, she silently begged for forgiveness for any wrong she may have done to deserve this punishment. The burning pits of hell held more appeal than the ongoing nightmare she was forced to endure. How she longed to be free from the pain and injustice of her now wretched existence. Never again would she see her family or her friends. Tears of self-pity and the hope of rescue dried up long ago. No human had such advanced space technology, fast-moving spaceships and a cruel beam of bright green light, which gripped her, held her immobile, until it delivered her into the 1

clutches of these cruel, heartless aliens. She was forever lost and alone. The swoosh of air indicated her cell door opening. Groggily and weakly, she raised her head, careful not to lift her eyes too far, or it would earn her another agonizing jolt from the thick, metal collar firmly bolted around her throat. She tried to ready herself, needing to obey the commands of her masters. Her quick compliance helped avoid the pain. Not that it mattered anymore; perhaps she would disobey enough for them to finally kill her. Inwardly, she rebelled; outwardly, she was a coward. It hurt too much, and she didn’t want the pain anymore. ‘A weak, pathetic human,’ the Xersons repeatedly called her. She agreed. Several Xersons entered her cell area. Xersons were as big as grizzly bears. Their bristly fur covered more than half of their bodies and they had pointed snouts and humanlike eyes, yet what she feared the most were not their clawlike hands. Their teeth often gnashed at her, displaying crooked, sharp fangs smeared in greenish saliva. Often they threatened to tear her apart with those teeth, only to then laugh at her fear. “We’ve cleared out the base. The only thing left is this,” growled the low voice of the first Xerson. “The human is useless. I bought it for my amusement and it’s served its purpose. The valuable breeding slaves are already secure. This one will only take up space. Leave it. It will be dead before long.” Sara recognized the voice of the one who enjoyed inflicting pain and humiliation on her the most. It took her a split second to understand that they were leaving her to die and abandoning the station where she was kept. 2

Their amused laughter faded away as the door slid closed again. Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks and she collapsed back onto the dirty, cold floor waiting for her life to end. **** Solron sat in his quarters, anger simmering in his veins for being ordered on this pointless mission. Of course he knew why. He appreciated the concern of his mentor and superior, Krill. But damn it, he had work to do back on Kelon! A less-experienced healer would have sufficed, but Krill insisted on his presence onboard the Kelon Star-Searcher. Here, he would be forced to endure endless cycles of nothing. All the warriors onboard were in excellent health and top physical condition. No human females to treat, no younglings to birth. He sighed. At least he brought plenty of reading data with him to stave off the boredom. Solron sat in his quarters, remembering the conversation with Krill which landed him here in the first place. He was stressed and tired from running back and forth, tending to the birthing human women on Kelon. Physically and mentally, he was run down. “You appear pale, my friend.” Solron glanced up at Krill before running a hand over his tired face. “I am fine. Another human went into labor early this morning.” “You should let your trainees attend them and get rest.” The team of healers, which he personally trained, helped ease his burden from the growing number of human women now living on Kelon. Although they were learning well, they did not have his extensive personal knowledge of human 3

females. Quite a few of the human women were having difficult labors. Thankfully, once the Kelon pain inhibitor was administered, it took much of the stress from the mothers and the worried Kelon fathers. Still, he felt responsible for the human women and knew more about them than any other on the planet. He had to be there, just in case. “Your dedication in caring for the human females and their younglings is to be commended, but remember, a healer must care for themselves too,” Krill continued. “I shall. As soon as I am able,” Solron said, offhandedly waving at Krill, then turning back to study his new data on Csections. Krill growled with disapproval. “There is a military exploration ship leaving for the edge of Xerson space tomorrow. It is on a cleanup mission. I know if I order you to rest here on Kelon, you will not. I want you on that ship.” Solron shot to his feet, turning to face the Kelon. “Krill, I cannot abandon my patients. They need me!” “You have trained excellent staff who can handle your duties. You can’t care for your patients if you are unable to focus from lack of rest. This is not a request, Solron.” Krill’s tone took on a more forceful tone, one Solron recognized from his student days. The older Kelon would not back down until he had his way. Several rotations passed since the day he stepped grudgingly onto the Kelon Star-Searcher Linron. Solron returned to the present, sighed again and dropped his datapad. He was staring, no longer seeing the words. He stood up and left his quarters, then walked down to the mess 4

hall. Several warriors were hunched over a human game brought back from Earth by one of the females. Chess, if he remembered correctly. He was told it helped sharpen one’s military mind for strategy and defense. It was general knowledge that many unmated Kelon males made it a point to learn about human women so they too could look forward to courting and claiming one in the near future. Solron found the human female body attractive, but the thought of ever mating was far from his mind. His dedication and focus were on his healing duties and advancing his profession, which left no time for mating. He also lacked the appeal the females wanted in a Kelon male. He was shorter, with less bulk than the average warrior. It was unlikely a female would ever want him. Inwardly, he felt he lacked the ability to be able to protect and fight for a corami of his own. From an early age, his quickness of mind and steady hand helped decide his future. He wanted to be a healer. He entered the meal and recreation room, only to be ambushed by the commander. “Solron!” Te-Commander Rell gave him a hefty, yet friendly slap on the back. “Commander,” Solron acknowledged with a nod, trying not to appear winded from the commander’s enthusiastic greeting. “Good news, my friend, we shall reach the outpost in a few milrons and we shall see what those Xerson dogs have left behind.” “I suspect much like the last few bases: stripped and empty.” The Xersons were thorough in making sure nothing of 5
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
value was left. Still, they needed to check before destroying each base. Although the Great War officially ended a month past, much still needed to be done in cleaning up the mess the enemy left behind. Most of the three enemy races retreated to their own planets and territories. New listening posts were being set up to keep an eye on the borders of their space, ensuring the peace continued. He heaved a sigh. “I will collect my equipment from the healing bay.” **** They docked with the spinning asteroid orbiting a small dead planet. Kelon warriors marched through each corridor, checking each room with caution. Even though the scanners indicated no life signs, it paid to be cautious when dealing with an abandoned base. Solron absently followed Te-Commander Rell while holding his portable bioscanner, searching for anything hazardous to the Kelon crew. Solron almost ran into the commander when he stopped in the lower part of the base at a closed door. Commander Rell tried to open it with little success. “The only locked door on the whole base,” Commander Rell muttered, examining the plain gray metal door. A Kelon electronic lock pick was quickly ordered from the ship. When it arrived, it took but a moment for the warriors to open the locked panel, before forcing open the door. They were greeted by the foul stench of old blood and expelled body fluids. It made Solron’s sensitive nose twitch with revulsion. He silently agreed with the warriors’ grumblings over how disgusting the Xersons were. 6
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
One warrior quickly swept his light beam through the darkness of the cell. “It’s clear.” The warrior nodded for them to proceed, before stepping back while holding his nose. Solron glanced down at his scanner; an unusual reading blinked back at him. Curiosity made him push past the warriors, snatch the beam from the warrior’s hand and step into the obvious prison cell. No wonder the warrior missed her, as she was completely naked and her skin matched the filth in which she lay. Solron stared in shock at the small female curled up in the far corner. The readings were so faint, they barely registered, but the closer he came, the clearer the data. She was still alive, but barely. “Solron, what is it?” Commander Rell stepped in behind him. Solron dropped to his knees, running his scanner over the unmoving girl. “We have a human female, but her heart is weak, and her vitals are fading fast.” “Damn fire demons! How did the Xersons manage to obtain a human female?” Fury radiated off the commander in waves. Another warrior stepped into the cell, adding more light. Solron silently handed his beam to the commander and rolled the female over. The gleam of a thick collar caught his eye. He growled, reaching out to touch the shrockna, a cruel device used on fierce beasts to control them. Her long pale hair was dirty and tangled; bloodied scars and deep bruises marred her skin. Solron barely registered the other Kelons’ menacing, angry growls as they, too, viewed her battered and grimy state. Solron carefully lifted her into 7
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
his arms and rose to his feet. She weighed hardly anything. So small, so delicate. “Make a path! I need to get her to the healer’s bay now,” Solron snapped urgently, turning and heading out of the cell. “Out of the way!” bellowed the commander. Solron ran with the girl in his arms through the abandoned base and back onto the ship. Warriors stepped aside, curiosity and concern in their eyes, as Solron raced past, his mind three steps ahead of exactly what he needed to do to save her before she faded into the darkness forever. The doors to the healer’s bay whooshed open and Solron lay his new charge on the biobed, his fast, nimble fingers hurriedly pressing buttons to get a more accurate reading. Quickly, he filled the injectors with the drugs needed to keep her heart pumping. She was badly malnourished and severely dehydrated. There were also multiple contusions and many awkwardly healed bone breaks. They would need to be rebroken and reset. How could someone harm such a frail, helpless creature? Anger fired his blood, making him want to search out her tormentors and break every one of their bones before stripping the flesh from their bodies. The thought shocked him. He never was a violent Kelon, but seeing what they did to this human female incited a maelstrom of white-hot rage. Keep a level head and your hands steady. She needs you to stay in control to save her. A powerful determination added to his sudden need to avenge her. He would not allow her to die. As her heart struggled to pump blood through her body, Solron took the safest action available. With steady hands, 8
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
working fast, he placed her into an induced coma. She needed rest. The drugs stimulated her heart and kept it pumping. He put just enough nutrients into her system to stop her other organs from shutting down, but also to keep them from being overwhelmed. The rest was up to her: her will to live, to survive. “Come on, star shine, I need you to fight,” he whispered, brushing away strands of matted, dirty hair. “Don’t let them win.” Her cheeks looked sunken and sagged along with the rest of her skin. But her breasts still remained full rounded globes, despite her skin sticking to her rib cage. He swallowed hard, fighting to maintain a professional calm. He realized, for the first time, that his hands trembled. By the fire demons, what is wrong with me? He closed his eyes, drew in a calming breath to steady his hands, then pushed a fluid drip into her arm vein to rehydrate her. Agonizing moments passed while he waited for her body to accept them. Time stood still. His gaze flickered back and forth, from the shallow rise and fall of her chest, to the monitors tracking her vitals. Moment after worrying moment, he waited for her heart to begin to strengthen. Slowly, his monitors showed small signs of improvement. It was close, too close. Had they come but an hour later, she would have lost her life. Solron let out a relieved breath, but it would still be a while before her heart was back to an acceptable level for a human. Finally, he covered her with a sheet, cleaned his hands then walked to the door and opened it. 9
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Te-Commander Rell stood there, his arms folded, and concern shadowing his features. “How is she?” “I have managed to stabilize her. She has a shrockna.” “I did observe the collar. Prelron is coming down from engineering. They are damn tricky to remove. I have heard of them killing beasts by unleashing the complete voltage when the creature tried to tamper with the collar. How long do you think the Xersons had her?” “From the injuries both new and old, my guess is many cycles. No doubt she has suffered greatly.” Solron’s throat tightened again and the rage rose, forcing him to take several slow, deep breaths. By the mercy of Elron, how could such a thing happen? Yet, Solron knew the universal truth. If someone found themselves on the wrong side of the galaxy, it was a soulless, cruel place. “You know, if they had this one, they may still have more.” Solron shuddered at the thought. “It makes no sense; if they regard human women as valuable breeders, why leave this one?” “They would not have left her if she was valuable to them. I have not done deep scans yet, but I hazard a guess that she may not be able to breed.” He would check further when she was more stable. “I will send a communication to Kelon base.” Commander Rell turned on his booted heels, then marched toward the bridge. Solron turned back to the female, then prepared cleaning agents. He needed to bathe her so he could treat her other wounds. Slowly, as he washed her, revealing her pale, soft skin, a strange feeling swirled through him, going beyond 10

needing to heal her. He wanted to protect her and keep her safe. “No more pain, star shine, never again. You’re safe, now and always.”

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 2 For the first time since she could remember, Sara didn’t feel any pain. A strange fog clouded her mind, and she felt enveloped in warmth. Somehow, she expected death to be cold. From the darkness a deep, gentle voice spoke. “Aaaah, I see you are waking. Come on, star shine, let me see your beautiful eyes.” Open her eyes? No, she wanted the wonderful pain-free warm dream to continue. Still, she felt compelled to obey the gentle command. She struggled to open her heavy eyelids. Soft lights flooded her senses, along with clean air. A sweetsmelling spice tickled her senses, making her body react and her stomach contract, not painfully, but making her aware of her hunger. Sara blinked to clear her vision, bringing in to focus the face hovering above her. Her gaze landed on his full lips, seeing them curve up in a friendly smile. She glanced up over his large angular nose to meet his dark almost black eyes. They had soft white rims and speckled. It was like gazing up into the night sky. His eyes were framed by thick, dark lashes and even thicker eyebrows. His cheekbones sat high and slightly angular, and his full lips appeared sensual, even though they were pressed together. 12
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Ink-black hair curled around large ears. Most of his hair appeared to be pulled back. Undoubtedly he was handsome, for an alien at least. So different from the ugly snouts of the creatures who held her captive for so long. “Hello, star shine.” He smiled wider, drawing her attention to his forehead. Although he looked human, she instantly knew parts of him weren’t. Confusion filled her mind, as memories of her captivity and torture at the hands of the Xersons came flooding back. Panic replaced the confusion. Her breathing accelerated and fear took hold. Who is this new alien and what will he do to me? The humanlike man’s smile fell, replaced with concern. “Shhhh, star shine, I can feel your fear. You do not need to be afraid anymore. You are safe, very safe. My name is Solron and I am a healer, or as the humans like to say, doctor.” One of his large hands stroked her hair, while the other took gentle hold of her hand. He lowered his large frame so he did not tower over her. “Calm now. My people are friends with humans—many human women live on our planet, Kelon. They are very happy and very safe.” “They are?” Still, she felt uncertain. She gazed up into his dark eyes, filled with concern as he studied her. Sara forced her body to relax and slowly her fear began to ease. There was something in the gentle way he spoke and she could feel the truth in his words. Humans, friends with aliens? It was a strange concept; just how long had she been away from Earth? It felt like a lifetime. 13
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“I know you can understand my words. I checked and you have a translator. Nod now if you understand me.” Sara nodded and his warm smile returned. “What is your name, star shine?” Sara tried to clear her throat to speak, but squeaked. Her throat felt like it was stuffed with cotton balls. He anticipated her need and released her hand to retrieve a little cup. He lifted her head to help her drink the sweet liquid; it soothed her throat. “Better?” Again, she nodded before clearing her throat. “Sara Button.” “Sara Button, a beautiful name for such a beautiful female.” His smiled widened and she caught a glimpse of sharp white teeth. “I…where?” Her mind had trouble forming questions. “You are on a Kelon Starship, called the Linron.” “Home? Can I…go home?” Moisture welled in her eyes at thinking of her home, her family. Did they think she was dead? Had they given up hope of ever seeing her again? Warm and wet, her tears slid down the side of her face. When Solron bent over, she flinched, expecting a blow. Instead, he gently stroked the side of her face. “Do not fear my touch; never would I hurt you. I only heal, never harm.” Heal not harm, his soft words echoed in her head. She stared into his dark gaze. Slowly, she lifted her weak trembling hand, curling her smaller fingers around his. Was he telling the truth? Was she really safe? Would there be no more 14
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
pain? More tears spilled down her cheeks. She struggled to comprehend the truth from the lies. The tenderness in his touch spoke more than words could. She saw kindness in his dark eyes. His touch brought comforting warmth and a feeling of safety. It was the first ounce of comfort she experienced in a long time. Still, she was helpless and at his mercy. She had no choice but to trust him. She wanted to, desperately. She didn’t want to be alone or afraid anymore. “We will take you home if that is your wish, but I want you fully recovered before we make the journey. It takes many Earth weeks to reach your planet.” Recovered. Would she ever really recover? No, she still wanted to curl up and die; she didn’t want to bear the memories of what she suffered. She released his hand and he gently wiped her tears. “It will be alright, star shine, I swear. I will take care of you. Just rest and regain your strength.” She nodded to confirm that she understood his words. He smiled warmly. She liked his youthful, handsome features: a boyish look with cute dimples when he smiled. He reminded her of home and the boy she had a crush on while she was studying at college. He, too, had little dimples in his cheeks when he smiled. Overwhelmed with memories of her home, the dam of her emotions broke, causing her to burst into loud, chestheaving sobs. Desperately, she tried to hold in her blubbering. Her masters hated it when she sobbed in front of them. Panic gripped her, not wanting to upset her new masters. She flailed around in desperation and fear. “Shh, Sara, calm down.” 15
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Strong secure arms suddenly surrounded her, cuddled her against a hard muscled chest, yet, his embrace was gentle and warm. “Sorry, so sorry, I…I can’t…” “No, my precious little one, never be sorry. This was not your fault. I am here. I will keep you safe.” He didn’t demand or try to beat her into silence. He simply held her, making soothing sounds, stroking her hair and back until she calmed. She was too weak and sleepy to lift her head. She just lay against the gentle giant like a useless rag doll. Solron laid her back on the bed. “Rest now, Sara, you will feel stronger when you wake.” “Thank you for saving me,” she said, her whisper barely audible. Sara closed her eyes and tumbled into darkness. **** Agonizing pain, jolting from the shock collar like sharp needles stabbing through her body, made her every muscle jerk and dance. It also froze her vocal cords, silencing her screams which would have filled the room. Breathe, she couldn’t breathe. Her body convulsed like a fish out of water. Laughter met her pain and tears streamed down her face, before the darkness and oblivion fell. Sara bolted upright, her scream filling the room. A door whooshed open. She cringed in fright against the bright lights when they were switched on. She blinked to clear her vision, only to see a huge man burst into the room. He stood, towering over her. He growled low, his gaze darting about the room as if seeking a victim. A fresh wave of panic speared through her. She screamed again, scrambling backwards. She tumbled off a high bed, hitting the floor and landing heavily on her right arm. She whimpered from the pain 16
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
spearing through her limb. The man advanced on her, peering over the bed she fell from. “Little human, what is wrong? Why did you scream?” His voice was deep and rough, reminding her of her tormentor, her master. She stared up at him, ignoring her throbbing arm, while pushing herself back with her feet in an effort to distance herself from the huge man in the menacing black uniform and sword. “Don’t hurt me; please, don’t hurt me…” He looked confused at her soft plea. Her back hit something, halting her retreat. She glanced around the room for an escape. She saw a little gap between the paneling. Twisting her body onto her hands and knees, she scuttled through the gap and away from the large man. He crouched down, peering into the gap. She pressed herself tighter into the corner, praying he couldn’t reach her and pull her out. “Little female, I will not harm you. I am your guard, Borlon. Please, come out.” Why did she need a guard? To make sure she did not escape? Her eyes fixed on the blade attached to his belt. Her body shook in fear, knowing if he got his hands on her, he would hurt her. They always did. Others made false promises, but then laughed when her screams filled the room, while they tortured her for their amusement. More heavy footsteps sounded in the room. “Borlon, why are you on the floor? I had a report the female was screaming.” A deep, gruff voice boomed, making Sara cringe and shake harder. 17
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“She is hiding under the med paneling.” Borlon moved aside and another face appeared, peering at her. “Little human, I am Te-Commander Rell. I give you my solemn vow that no one will harm you.” “That is what I told her,” Borlon said. “She is frightened. I want to tear those Xerson dogs to pieces.” He growled again. “Do not growl and frighten her further. She suffered greatly at the hands of the Xerson. Go, fetch Solron.” More footsteps sounded in the room. “Te-Commander Rell, Borlon? My monitors alerted me of my patient’s elevated heart rate. Where is she? Where is Sara?” “Under here.” The two huge men moved back and away from her hiding space. Another crouched down. Right away she recognized his face and remembered waking up and his kindness toward her, his touch gentle without malice or cruelty. She remembered his name, Solron. He called himself a doctor. “Hello, Sara, what are you doing under there? There is no need to be afraid. Will you please come out?” She shook her head. Solron, she trusted, the others she didn’t. “No, they will hurt me,” she whispered, “make them go away, please.” Solron glanced up. “Commander, Borlon, would you mind leaving us? Sara is frightened by your presence.” She heard their grumbles of complaint and their boots on the floor, but they complied with Solron’s request. He turned his attention back to her, cocking his head slightly to the left and regarding her with a curious expression. “They are all gone; it is just you and me. Come, no one will harm you.” He reached out his hand towards her. 18
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
She inched herself forward on her bottom and reached out her uninjured arm, placing her small pale fingers in his large darker hand. At the first moment of contact, she experienced a jolt of heat searing through her cold hand, seeping up through her arm spreading like slowly creeping lava. She never felt like this before. Yes, she had been cold, even before her abduction from her frigid Tasmanian farmland home. She jerked her hand back, staring at it, and the warmth filtered away. The sensations confused her. With care, he moved back, tugging her until she was out from the panel. She glanced around. “See, they are gone. I will introduce you to TeCommander Rell. He is in command of the entire ship. Every crew member onboard would give their lives to see to your protection, Sara. Never would anyone on this ship harm you. Please believe that. All Kelon men have a fondness for human females.” “Why?” “They have beauty to rival the galaxies themselves.” His smile made her breath catch. He was handsome, but even more so when he smiled. “Oh, um, okay.” She lowered her gaze, noticing his clothes were slightly rumpled. His shirt gaped open and she got a glimpse of his sleek tanned skin with fine muscle definition. His ink-black hair was unbound and fell about his shoulders, giving him a wilder, sexier look. Her breath hitched in her throat, not sure if beautiful was the right word to give to a man, well not this Kelon man, but she couldn’t help her attraction to this handsome alien. 19
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
With one knee bent, he placed his hand on her arm and she winced in pain. Instantly he drew back and frowned. “Your arm is hurt. Did Borlon—” “No, I was scared. I fell off the bed and hurt myself.” “I should not have left you alone. I am sorry, Sara.” He stood and in one quick move scooped her up into his arms. “I had your monitors relayed to my quarters so I would be alerted if you woke during my sleep cycle.” He placed her on the bed before turning his back to her. He opened panels and drawers, then pulled out several instruments. “Sorry I woke you.” Sara bit down on her lower lip. “There is nothing to forgive, star shine; I am here whenever you need me.” He smiled warmly at her. She blinked, not knowing what to say. His smile soothed her like a soft blanket enfolding her. “Here, this will take away the pain.” He pressed something against the skin of her upper arm and it hissed. She felt nothing but relief as the pain in her arm melted away. Next, he ran a sleek black scanner, the size of a cigar tube, over her arm. “You have bruised your elbow joint, nothing serious. You will be fine.” He smiled reassuringly at her. Sara swallowed hard. “Thank you. I think I was having a bad dream when I awoke.” She stared into his dark eyes and didn’t flinch this time when he lifted his hand, and brushed away a wayward lock of her white-blond hair.

“I am so sorry, star shine. I can only heal your physical injuries. I wish I could heal your memories and take away the pain of your suffering.” A lump formed in her throat. She didn’t want to cry again. She needed to think, to ask questions. “Why…why are you…you Kelons are friends with humans?” “Many Kelon men have claimed, or in your human terms, married human women and are now also proud parents. I have helped birth many twins.” He pulled his hand away and turned. “During the war, we protected your planet from attack and we now have a treaty with Earth, but it seems we did not protect your people well enough.” He glanced over his shoulder as he set down his scanner. He walked to another wall panel, then pressed it with his fingers to make it open. He pulled out a cup. “Do you know if there are other human women? We found you, but…” “I never saw anyone else, but I did hear them talk about breeding slaves; I…I was of no value to them, except to…amuse them.” Feelings of being unworthy and a burden washed over her. She lowered her head, not wanting this kind alien man to see her shame. “It should have never happened. I have examined you thoroughly, Sara, and I know you cannot have younglings.” Pain sliced through her chest. Why did it hurt so much to hear those words from his lips? Did he think less of her because of it? The Xersons did. All she was good for was a slave for them to torture for their amusement, then left to rot like yesterday’s trash. 21
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“I am useless to everyone.” Her voice was small, barely a whisper. Solron placed a finger under her chin, lifting it, his dark gaze penetrating, making her shiver and not from cold. “No, you are precious and beautiful. You are a human and a survivor. Feel pride in that.” He thought she was beautiful? Heat from his touch and his words spread through her, making her want to believe him with all her heart. No one had ever called her beautiful, let alone precious. She struggled to believe him. He removed his hand, before taking a step back and she mourned the loss of his heated touch. He placed a cup into her hands. “Drink this.” She raised her hand, curling her fingers around the cup and lifted it to drink, pondering what it was about Sorlon that made her belly quiver, despite her weakened state. It wasn’t just his kindness or saving her life. They could easily have left her to die on the space station. Sweet, thick liquid rushed over her tongue, reminding her of a honey and orange juice mix. A soft moan of pleasure escaped her from the lovely flavor. “Here.” Sorlon chuckled, taking the empty cup from her hands. Sara felt the rush of blood heating her cheeks from her overeager behavior. It was a sign of weakness to her masters. Any pleasure or comfort she showed, they would tease her about, and then they would deny her. Solron only smiled and refilled the cup from the open panel. Greedily, she accepted the second helping. 22
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“A little slower this time; we need to allow your stomach to adjust to having sustenance again.” She sipped, savoring the sweetness this time. “It’s very nice, what is it?” “A nutrient pack, but I flavored it. Otherwise the taste is rather bland. It has everything your body needs to help it return to a healthy state and weight.” She glanced down at her thin arms, covered by an overlarge black shirt. She never used to be so thin. She was always a little on the plump side. He leaned against the panel, watching her as she finished her drink. “We will have you eating solid foods before we reach Earth.” “When will that be?” “As you are doing much better, Te-Commander Rell has decided to continue the mission of searching Xerson and Federation bases, in case we find more abandoned humans and other species. It should take about three to four weeks, Earth time.” Abandoned, just as she was. “Why was I…” “Left?” She nodded, handing the cup back. He took it from her and placed into the panel before closing the door. “The war is over. Kelons is a part of the Alliance. We have won the war over the Federation, and now we are left to clean up the mess the war and the Alliance left.”

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 3 Alien war. The words bounced and her stomach rolled at the thought of Earth as a whole. If they were in a war against such aliens as the Xersons, they didn’t stand a chance. “Are, or were humans involved?” She heard the tremor in her own voice. He shook his head. “Earth became the war’s catalyst. Our last battle was fought over your planet and it is now a protected planet of the Alliance.” She almost felt dizzy from the flood of relief that knowing Earth was not involved, but they were a target. “Do not fear, humans were not directly involved. It is a long story, star shine, and you need to rest and take in more food,” he stated a little more firmly, as a father would to his child. Sara found herself pouting, then realized she was overstepping her bounds. She quickly lowered her head. These Kelons may seem nice, but could turn on her if she started demanding things. “I’m sorry.” “Sara, do not lower your eyes. Look at me. I only have your best interests at heart. I will tell you all you want to know, I promise. I just want to make you more comfortable. You are my patient and I take my duty seriously.” 24
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
She startled when he laid his warm hands on her upper arms. Again she felt a jolt of white-hot heat, startling and confusing her. What is going on? She glanced up at his face, seeing only kindness and something else. He was staring at her, as if she was something edible. Warmth spread through her belly, a soft shudder ran down her spine, and she felt her nipples harden. Her eyes widened in surprise to feel her body reacting against her will. Yet, in no way was she frightened by her reactions. It was wonderful to feel anything other than pain. “You are cold.” She was always cold, but not when he touched her. This can’t be right. I can’t be attracted to this alien. Still, she leaned into him, inhaling his spicy masculine scent and pressing her head against his chest. She felt the pressure of his arms sliding around her back, tugging her even closer to his hardened, muscled body. Warmth seeped into her skin and through to her bones. Warm and safe, it was a haven she never wanted to leave. “I have quarters arranged for you. Are you feeling well enough to leave my healer’s bay?” His chest vibrated when he spoke, tickling her ear pressed against it, while she listened to the soothing rhythm of his strong heartbeat. She nodded against his chest, not wanting to speak. “Also, Te-Commander Rell will want to speak with you, but if you do not feel up to his questions, you must say so.” “I’ll do whatever you think is best.” She placed her chin on his chest and gazed up at him. 25
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“We shall get you settled, then.” He seemed lost in his own thoughts as he stared at her. Slowly, he pulled away and again she grieved the loss of his warmth. He snatched the blanket draped over the end of the medical bed, drawing it around her shoulders. “Come, time to get you up. Can you walk?” He lifted her off the table and set her on her feet. “Um, I think so.” The ship’s cool metal vibrated beneath her bare feet. She took a step and almost collapsed, not realizing how weak she really was. She couldn’t remember the last time she walked anywhere. She had been made to crawl, writhe and beg like an animal. Solron’s strong arm gripped her around her waist before she crumbled to the floor. “Easy, star shine, your legs will strengthen again. Small steps.” He supported the bulk of her weight, while she took small steps towards the door, watching it slide open. They moved out into the corridor. The same Kelon man, who said he was her guard, stood by the door. He glanced down at her, offering her a friendly smile. He didn’t seem as scary as before, despite being over six feet five with shoulders broader than a body builder on steroids. Be brave, they swore not to hurt you. She believed them. “Do not be afraid of Borlon. He has been appointed your guard.” “I won the duty.” He grinned. “It is a great privilege to guard a human woman. I am most sorry if I frightened you.” “Um, it’s okay. Why do I need a guard? I thought you said I was safe?” Her eyes sought Solron’s. 26
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“You are safe. Human women are much desired as wives on Kelon. Borlon will make sure no one gives you any unwanted attention,” Solron explained. “Oh.” Warmth flooded up into her cheeks. Rape was one torment she’d been spared during her incarceration with the Xersons. Being told bluntly she was incapable of breeding, they hadn’t bothered with her, but found many other ways to torture her for their amusement. Don’t think about it anymore, I’m free and I’m safe. Borlon chuckled softly. “You are small and frail. I doubt we will draw much interest from many Kelon males.” She felt Solron stiffen beside her. What did Borlon mean by that? Confused, she looked up at Solron for an explanation. “Do not mind Borlon, he should learn to keep his mouth closed and do his duty,” Solron snapped, clearly irritated. Solron bent and picked her up. She hooked her arm around his shoulder and he carried her down the corridor. She peered over his shoulder to see Borlon following at a distance, his face twisted down in a fierce frown. “I don’t understand. What kind of woman draws attention from Kelon males?” She nibbled on her lower lip, wondering why Solron was so tense. Why did Borlon’s words bother him? Breeder, the word clicked into her brain. She often heard the Xersons talk about the lack of females who could breed. Although every kindness was shown to her by the Kelons, she began to think maybe they held the same agenda as the Xersons. She also remembered Solron mentioning he’d helped birth babies to human women living on his planet. 27
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
It all started to make sense. Solron was a doctor and no doubt word spread about her inability to have children. The ache in her chest grew at knowing she was frail, unable to breed and useless. She couldn’t understand why they bothered to help her. So lost in her thoughts, she didn’t notice where Solron carried her until he came to a standstill. “These are your quarters for the rest of the journey.” He bent and placed her on a bed, laying her back against the pillows. “You are free to move around the ship, but make sure your guard is always with you.” Sara glanced about the room. The bed was firm, but softer than a stone floor and the reddish, earthy-colored sheets were like silk under her fingers. The walls were a sandy color, with inch-thick silver lines. Solron stepped away from her and the bed, his mouth still turned down in a frown. The numbing cold seeped back into her skin, sinking right through into her soul. She lowered her eyes, struggling to hide the pain of her emotions and push down the rising panic. He didn’t need a constant shadow, or to pander to her insecurities. “You are tired, so I will let you rest. The bathing chamber is just through the other door. Let Borlon know if you need anything.” He was going to leave and she would again be alone. Panic swelled in her chest, she didn’t what him to leave. “Will you be alright until I return?” No! Don’t leave me alone. 28
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
She swallowed and nodded. “Thank you.” She rolled onto her side and squeezed her eyes shut. Not alone, not alone, not— The soft hiss of the door let her know he was gone. Sheer panic swamped her, and she struggled to draw breath, feeling as if someone were squeezing her throat while standing on her chest. She gasped for breath. Once it started to pass, she crawled off the bed and into the nearest small corner. Fear spread through her like claws, digging in deep, again squeezing the breath from her body. She wrapped her arms around her legs and started to rock. Alone…always alone. She sobbed softly into her hands. **** Solron stood still in the hallway of the ship, a frisson running up his spine. He struggled hard to control the reaction of his body and his desire for her. His pants were tight, his skin overheated and his fingers itched with wanting to touch her in more ways than as a professional. He retreated as quickly as possible and did not register the subtle signs of her struggling to hold in her panic, her drooped shoulders, the way she avoided his gaze and the soft crack in her voice. She was bone thin, but still her beauty shone through, touching him deep within and making him burn hotter than the fire pits of Elron. “Damn fire demons!” “Healer?” He turned his head to spare Borlon a glance. “I meant no offense before. You know as well as I the human women on Kelon are, well more—” 29
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Solron’s eyes narrowed on the warrior, who was taller, broader, and thick-headed. “I know the type of women on Kelon. Sara has been starved and tortured to near death by the Xersons and you want to add to her injuries by your thoughtless words.” “I did not realize. I did not mean my words in such a way. I would tear her tormenters apart for what they did to a helpless innocent, I—” “It matters not.” Solron turned on his boot, slapping his hand over the door panel. A quick glance around the room showed she was not on the bed where he left her. The sounds of her sobs reached his ears. Walking around the bed, he found her curled up on the floor in a corner. Her small hands covered her face while she wept. Helplessness swamped him. He would tear his own heart out and give it to her, if it would ease her inner pain. Trained to heal physical injuries, but not to heal the inner ones, he did not know what to do. He wanted to protect her from everything, take away her fears, make her smile and kiss her soft, red lips. Have her look at him like…like what? His corami? He shook his head at such foolish thoughts. He was not a warrior and she was…human, frail and unable to breed. His father would not approve. Solron frowned; now he was thinking like Borlon. Silently, he cursed again. He drew closer and crouched down, perched on the balls of his feet. He realized his hand trembled when he reached for her. 30
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Sara, star shine, it is alright. I am here.” And I always will be, for as long as I can. He kept his voice low and soft, not wanting to startle or frighten her. She glanced up. Her silvery-blue eyes were bright with her tears. They were breathtaking, beautiful and so full of torment. She launched herself forward, throwing herself at him. Solron closed his arms around her, pulling her tight against his larger body. Gently, he stroked her hair. Every time he held her, he could not stop thinking of how well she fit against him. “I cannot read your mind, tell me what you need from me. Tell me what to do to make it better.” “I-I don’t want…” She hiccupped. “…want to be left alone, I’m…I’m frightened of being alone, of the darkness.” Solron would not leave her here alone. She would stay with him—always. He pushed himself up, keeping her in his arms. She snuggled deeper, her face against his chest and her eyes closed. She was more than his patient. He felt a deeper responsibility to care for her in every way. Mine. She was his. With quick steps, he walked from the quarters and marched through the ship, ignoring the questioning glances of the warriors he passed. Borlon jogged behind them, trying to keep up. “Healer, where are you going? This is not the way to the healer’s bay.” “Sara will stay with me until she feels well enough to be on her own. Inform the commander. I will talk with him later, when she is sufficiently rested. I am not to be disturbed until then, unless there is an emergency.” “But you cannot. You are an unmated male!” protested Borlon. “The commander will—” 31
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Solron ignored Borlon. The whoosh of the door cut off Borlon’s words. Solron would deal with the commander later. Right now he needed to see to Sara. “You will never be alone again, star shine.” He laid her on the center of the bed, which dipped under his weight when he sat down. He unclipped his boots, then tugged them off, and they landed with a loud clunk on the metal floor. A wisp sounded in the room from him swiftly removing his belt and tossing it aside, before peeling off his shirt. “W-what are you doing?” He turned his head to glance down at Sara, her eyes wide. She stared at his body. There was no fear, but clearly she was nervous; her small, white teeth bit down on her lower lip, darkening slightly from her self-abuse. Solron twisted, lying down, before rolling onto his side. He reached up, catching her chin with his finger, then gently running his thumb along her bruised lower lip. No more abuse, no more pain. He would see to it, to everything. “You need to sleep, Sara. Lie down. I will not let anyone harm you.” He watched her expressive face, the down turn of her lips and slight furrow in her forehead, while she pondered what to do. Slowly she laid her head on the pillow. Her silvery-blue gaze—filled with trust—met his. A trust he would never ever betray. He ran his hand down her arm. The softness of her skin enthralled him. He placed a hand on her waist and pulled her back into his embrace, keeping her in the circle of his arms. Not too tall or too short, the fit of her against him—perfect. 32
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
She stiffened and inhaled sharply, but when it was clear he intended to do nothing but hold her, she let out a slow breath and he felt her body start to relax. “Why?” Her voice so soft, he almost missed her question. “Because you need me.” She did not reply, her body slowly relaxing. Her breathing evened out and he knew she had fallen asleep. Solron placed a soft kiss on the top of her head. Why did holding her like this feel so right? Possessiveness raged through him like the Fires of Elron. He wanted more than to simply hold her. Every primal instinct was screaming for him to claim her, make her his. The next few weeks would be agony, having her in his arms and knowing it was not possible to claim her.

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 4 Day after day, Solron didn’t allow Sara to wallow in selfpity or sink into a depression. There was no day or night on a starship, only cycles. Still, he made her get up every daytime cycle and shower. She refused to go to the mess room with so many other large overwhelming Kelon men. He dressed her in a long black shirt, which she wore more like a dress. It dropped to below her knees, even belted with a sandy-colored strip of material. On top of that he made her wear a shortened beige cloak. He never forced her, but strongly encouraged her to walk with him to his healer’s bay, where her meals were delivered. He’d sit and watch her eat every last crumb and drink his nutri drinks, before checking her weight and health with his funny little scanners. The smile and praise from his lips warmed her from the inside out. She found herself wanting to please him. Every time he touched her, or looked at her, heat curled through her belly. Try as she might, she couldn’t bring her mind or body under control. She desired him, yes, and wanted to touch him. Thoughts of kissing his full sensual lips began to replace the nightmares of her captivity. Solron was her healer. Having forbidden carnal thoughts of him doing more than simply playing doctor left her wracked 34

with guilt. If only he wasn’t so sexy. But mixed with his good looks was a kind and compassionate nature which shone through. It was a lethal mix on her senses. She wasn’t sure, but there were times when she caught him looking at her and his expression darkened with desire. It gave her a small thrill at the prospect that he, just maybe, might like her beyond a simple doctor-and-patient relationship. No, it was foolish to think in those terms. She wanted to go home, see her parents, family, and resume a normal human life. Only time would tell if it was possible. **** “Oh please, I can’t eat any more. Look how fat you’ve already made me.” Beauty radiated out her every pore. The more he made her eat, the more weight she gained. It filled out her body, showing more and more dangerous curves, which had more than a few warriors taking notice every time she walked through the corridors or sat in the meal room. Three weeks into his specially designed diet of highly rich foods and Nutri packs three times a day, gave her skin a healthy glow. Her eyes were brighter and she no longer cowered in fear when around the other warriors. She was attracting more attention than Solron liked. Every time a warrior complimented her, he watched her cheeks flood with a crimson, pinkish color. He struggled to stamp down the anger which made him want to attack and rip out each warrior’s throat. Protect what is mine. Damn the fire demons, why can I not stop thinking like this? 35
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Try as he might, he was unable to rein in his thoughts and emotions. The desire to claim and posses her grew stronger. Damn the consequences. “You are beautiful.” Simple fact. “In no way fat, you are still underweight in my estimation.” He hid his smile at her indignant glare. “I am not.” He cocked his head to the side, pinning her with an authoritative gaze. “Who is the healer here?” Her eyelashes fluttered down, long and thick and curled up slightly at the ends. She returned her attention to her food. Her long, elegant fingers picked up the spoon, scooping up the yellow Polon pudding. He watched, unable to tear his gaze away as she slid the spoon between her pink lips. It was a highly erotic sight to behold when she slid her tongue out and ran it over her bottom lip. His cock, already hard, throbbed painfully with her little moans of pleasure. How he wanted to be the one to make her moan like that, have his tongue replace the spoon, and taste her sweetness. How desperately he wanted to show her that the world was not dark and filled with pain, but soft, tender passion. The fact she had been tortured and tormented helped him keep a tight rein on his desire. He never wanted to see fear or pain in her eyes again. But now, he was the one in constant pain and torment with his body needing hers. Soon, it would end, or would it? Would the commander demand she be passed onto another to care for until they arrived on Earth? Back where she belonged. He would go on with his duties and do what was required of him. “Solron? I’ve lost you.” 36
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Sara’s soft voice penetrated his thoughts. He refocused on her face, noticing her stare at him, as if trying to figure him out. You do not want to know what I am thinking, star shine. Or did she? “Forgive me, much is on my mind.” Like you. “How long until you’ve searched all the abandoned stations?” Her question hung like a heavy weight around them. “There are a few more stations left to search, then we will make the hyperjump into Earth space and you will be home.” Just the thought of Sara being gone from his life filled him with gut-wrenching dread. He would never see her smile again, never feel the warmth of her body curled into his, or her soft, sweet breath against his chest and never inhale her scent of sweet, feminine musk. She would be gone and with her, the painful ache and his constant state of hardness. Even the frequent shower visits and sparring with the warriors could not bring it under control. He was sure disappointment flickered through her gaze before she dropped her eyes to her pudding, hastily scooping more into her mouth. She could not be as affected by him as he was by her. No, he was simply imagining it. She wanted to return to her home, to her people, where she belonged and he to his people, where he belonged. Yes, her leaving is best. “We will coordinate with your authorities and the commander will make sure you are safely delivered to your family.”
37

She nodded before reaching for her cup of Julip juice. She gulped it down and again her pink tongue darted out, licking up the moisture left behind on her lips. Under the bench, he gripped the table. He forced his breathing to remain calm, slow and steady with normal breaths. “Have you had enough?” She gently set down the spoon and pushed away her plate. He was satisfied that she ate the bulk of the sweet treat. “Thank you.” She shifted nervously in her seat. He knew she wanted to ask him a personal question. Being so close to her over the past weeks, he learned many of her expressions and movements. “Ask anything you wish, Sara. You should have learned that much about me by now.” A small smile lit her face, highlighting the little dimples in her cheeks. “I know. You’ve been so wonderful to me and I hate to ask anything of you.” A pink shade crept into her face. “If it is within my power to give you, it is yours.” “I was just hoping, well, if you could stay with me, until I reach home. I trust you more than any other, and I…” There was something else, he sensed it, something she was not saying. “I’m not frightened with you. I’m sure I’ll be okay once I’m home with my family again.” More time with Sara. He would not have to hand her over once they arrived on Kelon. Hope flooded through him, but died an even quicker death. He could not keep her knowing he would be unable to touch her. This was simply an arrangement for her mental and physical health. The same could not be said for his. 38
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“I will see you safely home to your people.” “I’m sorry to be such a—” “Sara.” They had been through this many times in the past few weeks. Solron finally settled her self-loathing issues. If anyone was unworthy and deserved death, it was the Xersons for abusing her mentally and physically. “Remember what you are.” “I am not a burden.” “And?” “I am beautiful, smart and of great worth.” “Do you believe it?” “I—” He growled softly. “Am I a liar?” She shook her head, her dark mane of blond hair tumbling around her shoulders. “No, never.” “Good, let us keep it that way.” Her smile radiated as she gazed at him. “Thank you.” “You are always welcome, star shine.” **** Sara stared at the tanned ceiling of their quarters—or rather Solron’s. Datapads and other little instruments sat on the table at the far end of the room. Sitting among them were the comb he gave her for her hair and the small ties for when she plaited it back. Draped over the chair was the cloak to wrap around her body whenever they left his quarters. He was out for a short while at least, doing his duty, searching another abandoned war base, the seventeenth one so far. More in control of her fear now than a few weeks ago, she could stand being alone for short periods of time. Sometimes she would sit with Borlon in the mess hall and play chess with her guard. 39
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Solron gave her so much, she needed to give him something in return. She wanted to show appreciation for everything, but didn’t know how. Not only had he healed her on the outside, but through his tender care, he was slowly healing her inner wounds as well. She would never forget the agony of what she endured, but with him, she felt she could face anything, do anything. Lying curled in his arms, soothed by the strong rhythm of his heart, she began to think she never wanted it to be any other way. He kept away the darkness. Whenever she had a bad dream, he was there to soothe her, kiss the top of her head, run his large hands over her back and murmur words of comfort. As the days went on, it became clearer by his state of arousal around her, that he was not as unaffected as she first believed. Her desire for him grew each time he tenderly touched her. Her belly quivered when he pulled her into his arms during the sleep cycle, holding her close. She would stare at his full, masculine lips, wondering what they would feel like pressed against hers, kissing her. He was a big man compared to human men, but not as tall or as broad as his warrior counterparts wandering around the ship. She liked that. She was not exactly tall either. The more she studied him, the more she liked. His features youthful, his brow broad with the layer of what looked like bone armor plating. It blended in with the sharp angle of his jaw line and high cheekbones. His nose was like the other Kelons, large and hawklike, but not overly so. He was ruggedly handsome with a touch of boyishness about him. Behind his midnight eyes, shone the bright intelligence of his profession and a man who cared about others. 40
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
It struck her then she had only one thing to give—herself. The idea lodged into her brain and refused to move. A flood of juices rushed between her thighs at the thought of Solron touching her intimately. Clearly, from the signs of his body, he wanted her, so why then hadn’t he made a move or touched her? Did she not measure up? Thoughts of not being good enough for him flickered through her brain, then she squashed them like a pesky bug, knowing how he always chastised her when she thought negatively about herself. Maybe it wasn’t her, but him holding back? This made more sense. He was a doctor, after all, and he put her wellbeing above his own. Sara grinned with the thought. It was so like him. It made sense. Well, she would make sure the good doctor would be properly rewarded. Her smile fell when she realized this was all it could ever be. The urge to return home thrummed through her, yet an ache developed when she thought of how she would also have to give up ever seeing, touching, or hearing Solron’s voice again. Live in the here and now. Worry not about the future, for it could all end in an instant. Her time with the Xersons taught her many hard lessons. She pushed the ugly thoughts from her mind, instead bringing up Solron’s face, and focusing on how she was going to seduce him. Oh cripes, what if he already has a girlfriend? He never mentioned one during any of their long talks when she talked about memories of her home.
41
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
She would have to ask first. She nodded to the ceiling before turning onto her side. And if he has a girlfriend? The thought suddenly depressed her. Because he has someone other than you? Shut up, stupid brain. The door swished open and the object of her desire walked though. His penetrating gaze swept over her lying on the bed. She sat up when the door whispered shut behind him. She tilted her head to study him in his black uniform. “Is everything alright?” “Yes, the base is empty.” Thank goodness for that. “You look tense.” He always did after coming back from searching a starbase. Sitting up further, she dragged her legs over the edge and stood up, walking toward him. He didn’t protest when she took his hand. “Go shower, the hot water will ease some of your stress.” She walked him through their quarters and into the bathroom. “Are you alright? Any panic attacks while I was gone?” She smiled at him confidently. “No, none, but I was having other thoughts.” Curiosity and heat flared in his eyes; just as quickly he masked it. “What kind of thoughts?” Her smile broadened. I knew it! He does want me. “Shower first, then I will show you.” Tell him, show him. She crossed her fingers behind her back, praying he wouldn’t reject her. She let his hand go. He stood studying her for a moment, as if trying to figure out what she was up to. “Go on then, hurry.” He turned. The door to the bathroom opened, then softly whooshed closed behind him. She knew little about men; all 42

she had to draw on were memories from romance books she read and movies she watched. Surely, it couldn’t be that hard. More than anything, she wanted to do this. She wanted Solron—for as long as I can.

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 5 Show him? What was his little star shine up to? Damn the fire demons! Even the icy blast of water sliding down his body did nothing to ease the sexual tension raging through him, making him ache painfully. How could he step outside the bathing room, knowing that if he touched her, he would not stop until he did something stupid like kiss her, then push her down on the bed and claim her? The secret smile she gave him only made things worse. She knew nothing about Kelon sexual practices. How sex was only for claiming and procreation. She could not have younglings. Still, it did not quell his desire for her. He knew other Kelons who had broken with tradition and mated with humans, such was their desire for their females. Solron now understood why: his need for Sara overwhelmed his practical senses. Stepping from the stall he glanced about the small bathing chamber. Fool, he left his fresh clothing out in the quarters; normally he would take them in with him and make sure he covered the lower half of his body. He had been so blindsided by her, he struggled to think rationally. Wrapping the towel around his waist, he knew he could not delay any longer or she would think something was wrong. He never wanted to worry her. He would gather his clothes 44
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
then retreat to take care of his aching cock. Yes, a simple, easy plan. He stepped out and she sat on the end of the bed, her pale legs dangling over the side. He wanted to fall onto his knees and skim his hands over them, touching her soft perfect skin, then push up the oversized shirt to her rounded hips. Oh, he knew every part of her. After all he had bathed her and treated her, but it was not enough, he wanted to touch anew and taste. His mouth watered at the thought of what she would taste like. Her gaze raked over him. Shock rocketed through him to see her eyes darkened with…desire? Surely not? “Did I ever tell you that I think you are the sexiest man I’ve ever seen?” Her voice was a low purr. “Fires of Elron, Sara, do not say such things to me,” he choked out. He gripped the side of the door to stop himself from advancing any further. “Why not? It’s true.” Gracefully, she slipped off the bed. Even through the baggy black material, the sway of her hips mesmerized him. He glanced up, taking in the soft swell of her breasts. “There is only so much a man, even I can take, I…” “You want me. I’ve noticed that. I’m not blind.” She met his gaze, standing but a hair’s breadth from him, her scent invading his senses, her heat so near…all he needed to do was reach out and— “I am sorry, I never meant—” “It’s okay, I want you, too. Unless you have a girlfriend or someone waiting for you back on Kelon?” “No, I do not.” It was far more complicated than that, but she did not need to know. 45
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Good, it makes doing this so much easier.” The pillow softness of her breasts pressed against his chest. She slid both hands up over his shoulders and tugged the back of his neck. He stared at her lips. The pink of her tongue swiped over them, leaving a sheen of moisture. He was weak and helpless against her, allowing her to pull him down. Her lips touched his. He stood rod-still, not knowing what to do, how to react. Then the supernova went off in his mind and rocketing through his body. He wrapped his arms around her soft body, then pulled her tighter against him, inhaling her scent deeply. He tilted his head and opened his mouth, spearing his tongue past her lips. The sweet, wet, hot flavor of her made him moan— more addictive than any drug. More, I need more. His tongue met hers, rolled and collided, danced and sparred, the heat spreading, intensifying. Moans filled the room. He pressed her tighter against his body, wanting, needing to be closer to her, melt into her soul. Pleasure thrummed through him making his scalp tingle as her soft fingers moved, tangling in his hair and tugging. The hardened beads of her nipples pressed against his chest, scorching him with welcome heat. “More,” he groaned into her mouth. “Yes, oh yes,” she panted back. “I do not want to hurt you. Do not let me hurt you.” The fear was there, but he could not bring himself to stop, to pull away. They should not be doing this, for her sake and for his sanity. 46

“You will never hurt me. Stopping is the only thing that will hurt me.” She grabbed his towel, shoving it off his hip. It fell carelessly to the floor. He lifted her, barely aware of his feet moving until he lowered them both to the bed, needing to have her under him. Her legs parted and he pressed his erection against her center. Sucking in lungs full of much-needed air, Solron knew he could not stop. It would tear him to pieces to do so, but he would not hurt her. A groan left her lips, the pressure of her fingers in his hair mirroring the urgency and need thrumming through him. “Please,” she pleaded. He could not deny her; willingly, he gave her what she wanted. He needed to possess her. Own her. Taking everything. Giving everything. He never understood his desire and still did not understand it, but he could not bring himself to care. The moment their tongues intertwined, he did not resist. He simply gave in. Sara writhed in his hold, the decadent heat of her skin teasing his palms. She was undiluted pleasure in his arms. They should not be doing this. “This is not right.” But he could not stop. “Yes, so wrong, don’t stop.” Her hands skimmed over his chest, silvery-blue eyes burning bright with her desire. The scent of her arousal wafted into the air—a heady, maddening aphrodisiac. “How can you want me after—”

“After so much pain? It’s why I need you. Show me pleasure, Solron. Help me forget the pain. Give me new wonderful memories to replace the bad ones.” Show her pleasure. He groaned, pressing his ridged forehead plates against her smooth brow. His hands skimmed up the oh-so-soft skin of her arms, moving them lower, pushing apart their bodies to grab the material of her shirt, then peeling it up. She let go of him to raise her arms, and he rid her of the offending garment. Her skin was creamy and pale. His hands began roaming, every new touch increasing their fervency. He cupped her breasts, her nipples beading under his palm and he moaned. “I wish they were bigger,” she whispered breathlessly. Her breasts? “Why?” “Men like bigger.” He lifted himself from her to gaze down at them. Her nipples were the prettiest shade of pink he had ever seen. They flowed into the palm of his hand and he gently squeezed them. Everything about her was pure pleasure. “They are perfect. You are perfect. So beautiful.” “Th-thank you.” He bent his head and sucked one of the little buds harder than he intended. A gasp escaped her, but she tangled her fingers in his hair and held him against her. He switched his attention from one to the other, laving them equally, until goose bumps broke out over her skin, and breathy groans fell from her lips interwoven with his name, and pleas for mercy—for more. Solron had never possessed or touched a female in an intimate way, still he had a driving instinct to touch, taste, possess Sara. He would find a way to please her and pleasure 48

her. Because making her come was not simply a desire, her orgasm was a necessity. Her pleasure was his pleasure and that was just the way it was. Touch…taste…yes, taste. He straightened, meshing their lips. He had to taste her again. He wanted to go slowly, savor every inch of her, learn what she liked and what she did not. But with just a kiss and a few caresses, the passion between them went supernova. Her roaming hands clutched and her nails scraped. He rubbed his aching erection between her legs and she arched into every slide. Their kissing never slowed, their tongues continually rolling, seeking, demanding. He cupped her ass and slammed her against him, as the rubbing became a frantic seeking. Solron worked his way down her throat, nipping, licking, sucking, until he reached her nipple, and then his other hand slid between the junction of her legs finding her hot and wet. His groan echoed throughout the room. Tenderness abandoned, he sucked her nipple into his mouth and thrust a finger deep into her sex. A cry left her rending the air. Every muscle in his body clenched, savoring the sensation. Holy Fires of Elron, she clasped him tight. Seed leaked from the duel slits in his cock. He was hungry for her, for this, for more. He added a second finger moving in and out, in and out. She writhed, begging for more. Sara’s head thrashed left and right. “So close… Just a little more…and I’ll… I have to… I need… Please!” He should stop this. Stop the madness, but he had to taste her. He needed to taste her. 49
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
She was panting, a sheen of sweat coating her skin. His head lifted. His fingers withdrew and his gaze moved down her body to the pale brown thatch of hair, the rest of her pink and glistening. His. Ready. He lowered his head and inhaled her musky arousal before he let his tongue dart out and lick. Holy Fires of Elron, nothing ever tasted this good. A broken harsh cry left her lips. He glanced up with concern. “Don’t you dare stop!” she growled. Solron grinned and licked again. Her back bowed and he gripped her hips, licking, feasting on her little nub. Her cries were suddenly muffled. He glanced up over the curve of her body to see she had stuffed her small fist into her mouth. Unconcerned, he continued his assault on her clit, sucking, drawing more addicting flavor from her. He thrust two fingers back into her passage. She was tight, so hot, so wet. There was no doubt in his mind that she would be able to take him. He pushed in and out and drew her now-swollen nub deep into his mouth. She writhed, screaming his name around her fist. Her body shuddered, her skin flushed. Solron rose up over her and lowered himself between her legs. “Oh yes, please, Solron… Take me.” He needed no more encouragement; the tip of his cock breached her entrance. He pulled her fist from her mouth and covered her lips again with his own, slowly sliding deeper, deeper into her hot, welcoming body. He closed his eyes with the sensation of being squeezed. Tight feels so good—oh, so good. It was not a wonder that Kelon 50

men treasured their human women. He treasured Sara, possessed her, owned her. The claiming rushed uncontrolled through his mind. By the Holy Fires of Elron, I claim you, Sara Button. He shifted his hips and slid in until he could go no further. **** Sex was something she only experienced twice in her life, but nothing compared to the white-hot pleasure now pouring through her. Utterly impaled by his long, hard cock, she was helpless and loved every inch, every moment of him within her. Still, it was not enough. He was hers. Possession raged through her veins. It was a gift she wanted to give him, instead he again gave her more than she believed possible. “A-are you alright? Have I hurt you?” he asked, his sharp white teeth gritted, his face strained, his dark hair falling about them like a curtain. God, she loved it, loved him. She sucked in a sharp breath. It couldn’t be. She couldn’t love him. No, it was lust talking. “No, I’m good, perfect, wonderful. Don’t stop, please. I need you, I need more.” He withdrew and sank back into her. Her mind blanked of everything except the delicious sensations, the friction of their bodies. “More, faster!” Her fingers curling into his bulging biceps, she clung to him. He growled, low and sexy, sending spikes through her body, pushing her higher, back to the peak of her last amazing orgasm. Not enough, never enough. Greedy and possessive, she wanted more. He gave her what she craved, thrusting hard and deep, his mouth mashed onto hers. His tongue speared between her 51

teeth, covering her cries, while mimicking his plundering cock. He shifted the angle of his penetration. She screamed into his mouth when he hit one spot over and over, sending her careening over the edge into another shattering climax. Every muscle of her body injected her with pleasure. His frantic pace kept her peaking, the universe exploding around her. His body shook and his breathing labored. She felt him thicken inside her. His body seized and he growled. Hot warmth spread through her lower belly and she knew he came inside her. She held him, stroked his shoulders and back as he fell forward onto her, his weight momentarily crushing her. His face rested in the crook of her neck, his hot breath fanning against her skin. He lifted his body from hers, keeping their lower half joined and rolled them slightly, keeping her enclosed in his arms. Safe, protected, loved. She shoved her untamed thoughts back. Both breathing hard and no doubt, he was as much at a loss for words as she was. Slowly, after a long moment of silence, of simply holding each other, she found the breath to speak. “That was amazing, thank you.” She stroked her hand over his chest, loving the way his muscles tensed under her touch. “It should not have happened, but I could not resist you.” “You want to resist me?” She propped her chin up on his chest, meeting his gaze. She didn’t want regrets with Solron. “Yes, no I…I want to see you happy. Did I please you?” She couldn’t help but chuckle, the confusion on his face adorable. 52
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“I feared after all you have suffered, I would hurt you.” “No, you have made me happy. You gave me what I needed and I hope I gave you a little something in return?” His arms tightened around her. “More than a little something. I will never forget this, never forget you, my star shine. Never will I regret touching you.” “Good.” She buried her head against his chest, not wanting him to see the pain making her chest ache. It was an unspoken understanding, she knew, this something could not last forever. “For now, let us just be together, unafraid, unrestrained and worry about the future later.” She placed a kiss on his chest. “Agreed.” The future would tear out her heart. For she knew, despite her mind’s denial, she loved him.

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 6 Bliss and white-hot fire, all mixed in one small little package, that’s what she was. Solron reclined on the bed naked, watching Sara fold clean clothes before she placed them in their compartments. From her short, clipped movements, he noted her nervousness. He rolled from the bed and pressed himself along her back, wrapping his arms around her middle before sliding his hands up over her shirt to cup her breasts. “You worry too much, star shine.” He bent, then nibbled on her earlobe. Never would he get enough of tasting her. “You said we’ll be on Earth in a few hours. I just needed something to do,” she said, her voice breathy as she leaned back, her softness molding against his harder length. No matter how many times he touched, tasted or took her, he hungered for more. “You will be with me all the way to Earth?” “All the way.” He would face it, see her safe, and then walk away. Even if it did tear out his heart, it was for the best. She twisted in his arms and gazed up at him. He loved the feel of her soft body against his harder one. “I don’t know how to thank you for all you’ve done for me.” 54
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Tenderly, he stroked the side of her face. “You have, star shine, more than you know.” Not wanting any more words between them to spoil the moment, he dipped his head, capturing her lips in a soft, teasing kiss. He wanted to block out the thoughts of returning to his life on Kelon without her, a life of constant work and loneliness, while others planned his future. Anger and possession reeled through him. Sara opened his eyes to the path his life was taking. Choice, or duty to his family. So much was already set in place that he could not back out now, could not offend his family after their hard work and dedication. But could he let Sara go? Every part of him screamed she was his. He squeezed her tighter; her arms stole up around his neck. He closed his eyes, inhaling her light scent as her soft fingers wove into his hair. He adored everything about her: her touch, her scent. Every wonderful sensation he savored. She broke the kiss, gazing up with her silvery eyes. “No regrets, Solron. Life is too short to regret your choices. I want to look back on my time with you with a smile. I want to remember how wonderful it is to be with you, your touch, your kiss and the pleasure given without reserve.” He did not regret touching her, taking her body, giving her everything he was. Still, he longed to give her more than just his touch, more than pleasure, yet it was all he had to offer her. Wasn’t it? He slid his hand to cup her rounded bottom, no longer boney as it once was. It filled his hands perfectly. He lifted her against him. 55
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Her soft moan filled the air when he pressed his erection against her hot core, separated only by the thin barrier of her shirt. She lifted her legs, wrapping them around his waist, her mouth seeking his. He angled his head as she meshed their lips together, his tongue spearing past her teeth to taste her silken heat. Would he ever survive without this? Without her taste? Keeping one arm cupping her bottom, he lifted his other to hold the nape of her neck as he took over the kiss, dominating her mouth, devouring it. How he loved kissing her. Walking backwards, he sank down on the edge of the bed, his hands gripping her shirt, then tugging it up. Quickly, he rid her of the garment. He wanted, needed to touch her, map her body again and again with his hands, eyes and tongue. His hands roamed every part of her, while he plundered her mouth and he leaned back, pulling her with him. Her lower half draped over his. She lifted her mouth from his. “Ride me, star shine,” he commanded, his voice deep, laced with need. “I need to be in you.” Her breathing labored, her eyes blazing with passion, she gripped his cock and guided him inside her. She moaned while sinking slowly down, her heat enveloping his hard length until her ass rested on the back of his thighs. **** Sara cried out, loving the feel of her inner walls stretching around him; she was so wet, so eager. He clamped his fingers on the rise of her hips and moved her up and down, his strength always a wonder to her. As he moved her down, he slammed into her, forcing himself as 56

deep as possible, lifting to meet her halfway through the thrust. “Kiss me,” he growled. Even as she rocked on him, she obeyed, her chest smashing into his as she slanted her head and meshed their lips together. His tongue immediately shot inside her mouth, claiming her as his. His hand slid up and down her back. His other hand played with her swollen clit, flicking it with his thumb. Release slammed through her, wild exhilaration thrumming into every nerve ending as if electrified—a storm of satisfaction through every inch of her body. Her fingers speared into his hair, holding him captive while he continued to rock and thrust up into her. One of his hands fell to her ass and pressed her down as he rose up. She felt his chest rumble with the roar he forced himself to hold inside as he came, sending her over the edge a second time. She collapsed forward onto him, their chests heaving with the effort to draw in much-needed oxygen. He anchored his arms around her waist, holding her to him, not wanting to let go of the euphoric bliss surrounding them. “Thank you,” she panted. “Pleasing you brings me such joy.” She smiled, loving his sated grin. She glanced away, not wanting him to see the torn indecision of her heart. As much as she longed to see her home and family, she also didn’t want to lose what she found with Solron. How was she ever going to live without him, even if it was home on Earth? **** 57
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
The blue-green ball of swirling whites was an aweinspiring sight; Earth, her home, yet it filled with her with a gut-pitching sense of dread. It would take her away from Solron. He stood beside her, silent, his features a mask of calm as he guided her though the Kelon space station orbiting Earth and to the waiting shuttle which would take them through the atmosphere and down to the planet. Te-Commander Rell sat behind them while two Kelon warriors from the orbiting space station piloted the shuttle down to Earth. “There will be a delegation waiting when we arrive and you will be safely home with your people.” Te-Commander Rell’s words brought her no comfort. “Um, why? I just want to go home.” “I know, but we have to inform your human authorities each time we visit your planet. We wish to maintain good relations with your people, so we comply with their wishes.” It made sense, but still didn’t make her feel any better. Throughout the whole ride, her stomach was a knot of nerves. Did she really want this? Didn’t she want to be home, to see her family, to mentally prove to herself that her home was real and not just a dream of her nightmarish imprisonment at the hands of the Xersons? More questions lingered. Would she ever feel at home, could she go back to a normal, routine life on her parents’ farm? Her mother and father, her three older sisters—would they be happy to see her, relieved she was alive and finally home? The shuttle dropped suddenly, Sara instinctively reaching out ans grabbing Solron’s arm. 58
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Do not fear, star shine, the atmosphere drop only lasts a few milrons,” Solron soothed. It was the first time he spoke since leaving the ship. She glanced up, meeting his dark, intense gaze. Wishing she knew what was on his mind, she sucked in a breath, then let it out slowly, trying to calm her anxiety. He patted her hand and quickly glanced away. She could feel the stiff rigidness of his body and wanted to do something to ease the tension she felt rolling off him. With their audience, she knew she dare not appear too intimate. No, it was time to suck it up, put on her big girl pants and face the fact she would never see him again. She pulled away, but couldn’t stop herself from gripping tightly to the seat; ahead of her clouds vanished and the ground rapidly came up to meet them. She recognized Australia and the little island of Tasmania, once her home. The shuttle shot past the island, heading up the coast toward Sydney. “Where are we going? Tasmania is my home.” Sara glanced back over her shoulder at Te-Commander Rell. “We have been asked to deliver you to the coordinates sent to us by your Earth authorities. They will see you to your home.” A chill of dread ran down Sara’s spine. Suddenly having to face people asking questions, staring at her, being examined by—she shuddered—Earth doctors. “Are you alright, Sara?” She glanced up at hearing the concern in Solron’s voice. She shook her head. “I want to go home, not somewhere else,” she pleaded.
59

“We must abide by your planet’s laws. It will be alright. Your family will be waiting for you when we land,” the commander said with assurance. She should feel more at ease with her family, shouldn’t she? Sara closed her eyes, concentrating on keeping her breathing even and calming the rapid beating of her heart. Soon, the shuttle smoothly landed, the engines powered down and came to a compete standstill. She opened her eyes when Solron tugged on her arm. “You are home,” he said quietly, unbuckling her seat belt. He rose to his feet, and Sara followed on wobbly legs. She blinked, raising her hand to shield her eyes from the glare when she stepped from the shuttle onto a sun-heated tarmac. Men in military uniform stood around, their gazes fixed on her as she walked between Solron and Te-Commander Rell. Off to one side was her elder sister, Eve, but no one else. Two of the men stepped forward. “I am Te-Commander Rell and this is Doctor Solron here to hand over the human female, Sara Button, per her request to return home.” The military man in his brown-and-tan uniform saluted. “I am Colonel Morland, head of Australian Military Operations for the human/Kelon friendship treaty. We are grateful for your rescue and return of our citizen.” The chief commander turned his gaze to her, his hard gaze examining her from head-to-toe. “Miss Button, if you would come with our officer, we will reunite you with your sister.” “Where’s my mom and my dad?” 60
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
The colonel’s gaze turned almost sympathetic. “Miss Button, it will be best you talk with your sister.” With reluctance, she let the other officer lead her away toward her sister. Sara’s heart pounded harder with every step she took towards her older sister. “Sara, we thought you were lost forever,” Eve said, stepping forward and giving Sara a stiff hug before taking a step back. Sara struggled to fight back the tears. “Where’s Mum and Dad?” “You’ve been gone for a year, Sara, and you being Mum and Dad’s favoritewell, they couldn’t handle the stress of your disappearance. Dad died of a heart attack a month after they declared you missing. Mum, she broke down not long after and simply withered away in the months that followed.” Eve’s tone was harsh and bitter. Sara stared into her sister’s eyes and it became clear to her upon seeing the contempt and jealousy in her sister’s gaze, that she blamed her for everything that happened. A numbing sensation seeped through her upon hearing the news of her parents’ deaths. Sara tried to swallow the hard, painful lump in her throat. “Where are Megan and Sally?” “They couldn’t make the trip to Sydney to get you. Anyway, the Army said they will keep you a while before you can go anywhere.” “W-what about the farm?” “We sold it last month and divided the money. I guess you can come live with me once the Army is done with you.” The clear lack of any kind of affection and care made Sara’s blood run cold. 61
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
On top of that, who knew what the Army had in store for her; she didn’t want this, didn’t want to be placed back into a cold, heartless world. She turned her head to see Te-Commander Rell shaking hands with the colonel. Solron stared at her and she saw her own sadness reflected in his dark gaze. Brighter than the core of the sun, realization hit Sara with full force; beyond a shadow of a doubt, she loved him. His every touch and look proved to her that he cared for her like no other ever had, or ever would. The Earth, its people and her family were not hers anymore. Te-Commander Rell and Sorlon turned, walking back towards their shuttle. “Miss Button, if you’ll come with me, please.” The Army man took loose hold of her arm. Sara ignored him and shrugged off his hand. The blood pounded in her ears and she swiftly turned and ran back towards the Kelon shuttle, desperation making her blood fizzle like a shaken soda can. She cried out, “Solron!” **** Every muscle in his body rigid, Solron forced his legs to move, every step heavier the next. The simple act of walking back towards the shuttle was the hardest thing he had ever done in his life. He did not want to leave her in the hands of these humans. She needed special care—his care. His primal instincts demanded he take back what belonged to him. Solron whipped around when he heard Sara call out to him. She was running, her pale hair shining in the sunlight: golden, beautiful. She launched herself at him and he caught her easily, lifting her up against his chest. 62
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Don’t leave me here. This isn’t my home anymore. I love you, I want to be with you, please, I’ll do anything, don’t leave me here!” “By the Fires of Elron!” Her small hands trembled while they clutched at his shirt, her face buried against his shoulders. “But what about your family? Do you not wish to be with them?” “My parents are dead and my sisters don’t want me, and I don’t know what I will do if you don’t either.” He felt his shirt dampen with her tears. He pulled her tighter against his chest. Her words gave him more hope than he dared believe. “My precious star shine, of course I want you, I always have. You are my corami.” Solron glanced to his right to see his commander with a I-told-you-so smug expression. “I claim Sara as mine.” “By the Fires of Elron, it is about time!” Te-Commander laughed, slapping Solron on the back. “The whole crew laid bets whether you would let her go or not.” “You knew?” Te-Commander Rell gave him a dry stare. “You think any of us would not claim a jewel such as Sara if they had her alone in their quarters for four weeks? You may not be a warrior, Solron, but you are still a male with primal Kelon instincts.” “Commander Rell!” Colonel Morland marched up behind him. “Tell your doctor to release the woman; we will take her from here.” “I am afraid Sara has decided to take our good doctor here as her mate, and Solron made a claim for her.” The colonel’s face reddened. “She is a traumatized woman and doesn’t know what she’s saying. Give her to us, now.” 63
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Sara raised her head from Solron’s shoulder, and turned to glare at the colonel. Solron gently set her on her feet, but kept his arm around her waist. “Hell no, I’m not going with you. I’m not going to let you interrogate me and do experiments on me. I want to stay with the Kelons and I want to stay with Solron. I love him, so go shove it up your drainpipe.” Sorlon could not help the proud grin widening his mouth at her feisty words. She glanced over to her sister, who stood with her arms folded a look of disgust clear on her face. Sara’s heart broke. She loved her sisters but they did not return her affection. Her life was now with Solron. “You see, the female knows what she wants, and I will respect her wishes and it is best if you do also. Solron, take Sara and secure her on the shuttle.” Te-Commander saluted the colonel. “Good Earth day to you, Colonel.” “You haven’t heard the last of this!” yelled the human colonel, as Solron carried her back onboard, followed by the commander. The door slid shut behind them. The pilots turned with curious stares when he put her back in her seat. “Take us back to the station,” ordered Te-Commander Rell, retaking his own seat. “Does that mean you want me, even though I can’t have children?” Sara gazed at him, her lashes spiked wet with her tears. “Star shine, I have formally claimed you as mine; in your language it means we are married, and I have no care whether you can have younglings or not. I have what I want—you.” Her eyes grew wide with astonishment. “We’re married?” 64
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Te-commander’s laughter filled the shuttle. “You two have been married since you first mated with him,” TeCommander said behind them. “It is our way to only have sexual relations with our mates. We were simply waiting for Solron to publicly acknowledge that he claimed you.” “Oh, I didn’t know.” Sorlon chuckled, watching Sara’s cheeks turn an arousing shade of pink, as he realized the ship’s commander knew all along what they were doing in Solron’s quarters. “Oh, my sweet corami, in my heart I always knew you were mine, but wanted what was best for you, even if it meant letting you go back to your planet.” Sara shook her head, her lovely blond locks falling over her shoulders. “I thought it was what I wanted, but my world has changed, I’ve changed. Deep down, I knew I couldn’t live without you. I love you.” Solron, not caring if they had an audience, leaned forward and took her lips in a deep, passionate kiss. When he pulled back, he saw her beautiful soft smile with her shining silvery gaze speaking more volumes of the love she had for him than words ever could. The rest of the universe be damned. He followed his instincts and it brought him his heart’s desire. Now he had her, he would never let her go.

Chapter 7 Sara resigned herself to knowing that Sorlon liked to carry her and she loved being in his arms. She no longer protested when he swept her up and insisted on carrying her. It was sweet, even romantic, his carrying her through his apartment, giving her a quick tour, which of course, ended in the bedroom. She giggled when he bounced her on the soft mattress. “No more off-planet expeditions, too many ears to hear what we get up to.” He came down on top of her, then assaulted the side of her neck with his lips. Sara tilted her head, allowing her husband better access to her throat. She moaned softly, sliding her hands up over his broad shoulders, and anchoring them to draw him closer. “I’m surprised how quickly we reached your planet,” she said, her voice sounding breathless and husky. “We have direct coordinates to fold space between Earth and Kelon. Otherwise, hyperdrive is dangerous, but we are home now.” He raised his head and stroked her hair. She stared up into his dark gaze, filled with tender love and heated passion. “My home is anywhere with you. I love you, Solron.” “And I you, my corami.” “What is a corami?” 66
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“You are the one who fills the void in my heart so no empty space remains. You are the one who makes my life complete.” Her vision blurred as warm tears slid down the side of her face. “Oh, Solron, it’s so beautiful. You are my corami.” He dipped his head before kissing her. She kissed him back with the full force of the love and desire in her heart. He broke the kiss, pulling back to again gaze at her. “My whole life has been planned for me by my father. Knowing I would never be a warrior, he put me into the ranks of the healers and he even planned who I would mate. I went along with his plans with no real thought to what I really wanted. You have changed everything, my sweet corami.” “I’m sorry, Solron, I don’t want to come between you and your family.” “I have always gone along with what everyone else wanted with no real thought as to my own desires. You helped me realize I do not want to live a life commanded by others, destined to be with a mate I do not want, to end up…” he swallowed, drawing in a breath. “To end up like my father, cold and emotionless; you are my life, my warmth.” “You are far from passionless or emotionless. You care so much for others and you are the most wonderful doctor in the whole galaxy.” “I guess my father never counted on me enjoying being a healer. I am glad to have those skills. He was displeased when I contacted him to inform him that I took a human as my mate. I honestly do not feel bad about it, as we were never close, and I have everything I want right here.” His arms tightened around her. “Still, he is your father.” 67
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Yes, if he truly cares for me, then he will accept you also.” Sara sighed, holding her man close to her heart, as close as he was to her body. “I make you no promises, Sara, but I think we may be able to have younglings, though only if you wish it.” Her sad thoughts vanished and a thrill of hope speared through her. “You really think it’s possible?” “Now we are home and I have the proper equipment to examine you plus all the medical data I could gather from Earth. I will study it and see what we can do.” “We?” “Yes, many of the human women have learned to read and write Kelon. If you are willing, I will have you trained as my assistant. I know our females would rather keep home for their mates, but I know humans are stronger of mind. Truth be told, my star shine, I want you with me, always.” “Yes, oh yes, Solron, I would love that—I was training to be a teacher beforebefore I was taken.” Sad, painful memories washed over her. Solron sensed her distress and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. She pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind. “I will do everything in my power to make you happy, so do not cry.” “I’m crying because I’m happy.” She hiccupped. “If you think it’s possible, I want to have your babies.” She loved the smile lighting his handsome face. “Enough talk. Kiss me, show me your love. I need to feel you.” 68
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“With pleasure.” Solron captured her mouth with a scorching kiss. “I grow tired of these barriers between us.” A thrill ran down her spine when he gripped the shirt she was wearing as a dress and ripped it down the middle, exposing her skin to the warm air. She was already dripping wet in anticipation of having him inside her. It felt like forever since they last made love. He settled his body over hers. She automatically widened her legs and hooked them around his thighs, relishing how hard his cock felt against her core. Wriggling a little, she moved down on the soft sheets until the round head pressed against her clit. “Mmm.” “Do you even need me here?” Solron’s tone teased. Sara grinned up at him. “Oh yes, most definitely; I’ll let you do all the work tonight,” she teased back. He nipped her lower lip in retaliation. “Humm, star shine, with pleasure.” She felt his right hand slip between their bodies. His thick fingers slid through her wet heat, finding her swollen nub. He rubbed it in firm circles, making her arch her hips seeking more. He lowered his head and nuzzled the side of her neck, nipping at her skin before soothing away the sting with his tongue. Sara turned to liquid fire in his arms. It never took him long to make her writhe and beg for him to fill her. Her arms looped around his neck and she pulled his face up and pressed her mouth against his. She nipped his lower lip, making him growl. His fingers pulled from her core, shifted hurriedly to shove down his pants, thus freeing his cock. 69

“Now, I claim you; now, I make you mine.” His breathless declaration made her burn hotter. She wanted this, wanted him more than anything in her whole life. Nothing ever felt so right. “Yes, oh yes, Sorlon. I am yours, always.” His cock connected with the mouth of her sex, and he slid into her in one swift thrust. Her head fell back, thrashing from side-to-side at the intense sensations coursing through her. Her body was so ready, so aroused, it would only take a few strokes to make her come. “By the Holy Fires of Elron, I claim you, Sara.” His proclamation rang in her ears as he withdrew and plunged in again. She screamed his name, every nerve ending exploding in raw pleasure. On and on he fucked her, making her peak again until his thrusts became hurried, urgent, then he threw back his head, roaring as he came inside her. He slumped over her before holding her close and rolling so he didn’t crush her under his weight. “I am no warrior, but I will do my best to protect you and make you happy, my sweet star shine.” “Who says I need a warrior to protect me? You are everything I want. I’m already happy knowing you’re mine as much as I’m yours.” He brushed back her hair, before placing a tender kiss on her forehead. “Yes, my corami, we will face life and whatever it may bring together.” She snuggled against her husband’s chest, believing him with her whole heart and soul. **** 70
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Days morphed into weeks. Sara threw herself into learning all her husband had to teach her. They lived on the top floor of the Healer Center in the heart of Kelon Prime. Three of the top floors were accommodations for the healer center staff. She didn’t need to cook or clean; food was delivered and a cleaner came in every second day to keep things neat. When she couldn’t be with Solron, he left her at one of her new friends’ homes—Tara, Alice or Rachel—who she met with Sorlon in the section of the Kelon market set up for the human women. They had clothes for their ‘human’ size, even foods which were cultivated to help make life more comfortable for the few human women living on Kelon. The longing, envious looks she and other human women received from the men as they passed didn’t escape Sara’s notice. From what Solron told her, since the end of the war and many warriors returning home looking for mates, there was still a severe shortage of females. Peace talks between the once-warring factions started. The news datapad told them delegates were coming to Kelon for talks and treaties. Not every Kelon was happy with this news; they gathered outside the ruling council building, yelling and shouting to make their protests about the talks known. When some minor fighting broke out, it was quickly broken up. Solron was called in to help tend the injured. Despite the political tension in the cities, Sara couldn’t have been happier. Every day her love for Solron deepened and now, he was working on a way to get them pregnant. 71

“So, do you really think I can have our baby?” Sara gazed expectantly up at her husband. He set aside the scanner then picked up a datapad. Sara pushed herself up, swinging her legs over the canoe-shaped biobed, her bare feet dangling. She watched Solron’s nimble fingers punch in the data before setting it aside to smile lovingly at her. “Star shine, I will not make promises I cannot keep. The layout of your reproductive organs prevent you from conceiving naturally and they are beyond my repair. But with the fertility knowledge I took from your planet, combined with our advancements, I may be able to fertilize one of your eggs, and then implant it into your womb.” “When?” Sara knew the importance Kelons placed on having younglings, as they called their children. She knew Solron loved her, even if it didn’t work. Still, deep in her heart, it was something she wanted to give him. Solron chuckled softly, leaning down to lightly kiss her lips before helping her to sit up on a medical bed. “Tomorrow afternoon, I will retrieve an egg. I will also need to collect my seed and store it.” The buzzing from the comm pulled Solron from her; he walked over to the wall comm panel, jabbing it with his fingers. “Healer Solron, your presence is required in the council chambers. A fight has broken out and a few delegates were injured.” Solron heaved a sigh. “I am on my way.” Sara slid from the bed and grabbed her shoes, slipping them on, then silently gathered all the equipment her husband would need to treat fight wounds. 72

“We have been treating more internal fighting of late than I wish for.” “I’m sure once the peace talks are over, it will calm down, then we can focus having on our baby. I have some ideas on how to help you retrieve your seed.” She smiled seductively at him. Sara recognized the darkening of Solron’s eyes filling with want and desire for her. “Then we shall make haste and return home to practice.” Sara giggled, taking a step back before he could grab her, holding up his Healers kit. “Yes, let’s make haste.”

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 8 The wheelless car slid silently along the streets, passing the crowd of Kelons protesting the peace talks. Sara had seen the large building several times in the past few weeks, but never had reason to go inside until now. Guards pushed aside the crowd, allowing them access through the gates. Solron helped her out of the transport when it came to a standstill. She turned to glance at the angry Kelons, some yelling threats to the guards. “Pay them no mind, Sara. They are simply words. Any true grievances are taken to the arena aboveground. Once they have battled it out, most arguments are settled without fatalities.” She shook her head at the odd way to settle disputes, but from the way the men were built, she guessed they had to work out their frustrations the best way they knew how without killing each other. She was not one to judge other customs. She quickly followed Solron into the heavily guarded building. The building was more opulent than most she had seen, with shiny sandstone floors and large halls. Solron led her up a long flight of steps, passing doors on either side until they reached the large double doors at the end. 74
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Two huge Kelon men, wearing full battle armor glared down at them both as they approached. Sara fought not to feel frightened by their size and hard stares. Sucking in a breath, she remained by Sorlon’s side and waited. “You were called for, not your human, Healer,” the deep voice of the first guard said. “She is my assistant.” Solron stood proud, glaring back at the guard who spoke. “I go nowhere without her and if you have a problem with it, you can take the matter to TeCommander Kerr.” The two burly guards glanced at each other before one stepped forward, then opened one of the double doors. “Watch your human, Healer, there are Xersons in the room,” the second guard warned. Xersons ? A sudden sense of dread washed over her. “Maybe me being here isn’t such a good idea.” She stepped closer to her husband, before gripping his arm. “You are strong and brave; these Xersons are diplomatic delegates here to negotiate peace.” Sara sucked in a breath; she could do this. She smiled up at Solron, believing in him and her own strength. The guards opened the immense doors. They walked through; separate huddles of aliens stood in different areas of a massive room, divided by a long shiny black table with highback seats. The low tones of men heatedly talking, reached her ears. “Solron.” A Kelon she recognized approached them, smiling down at her. “Hello, Sara.” Commander Syl Paltaic was the husband of one of her new friends, Rachel. The woman recently gave birth to twin girls. 75
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Commander Syl, how are Rachel and the babies?” Sara asked, eager for news of the little ones. “Doing very well. Rachel calls them her little angels; I understand it is an Earth term for a deity.” Syl puffed his chest in pride. “I do not understand the endearment, but they are indeed most beautiful.” Sara grinned. “How do the talks fare?” Solron asked. Syl’s face fell, his lips thinned and a hardness replaced his mirth. “Not so well, the Methrill only desire profit and the Xersons…” He shook his head. “But you are here to tend the wounded. A fight broke out not long ago. Some of the delegates were injured in the scuffle before the guards could break it up.” Sara lifted Solron’s bag and he took it from her. “I am sure they are minor injuries then.” “Come this way and you can see for yourself.” Syl turned, heading back towards the group of Kelons and Solron followed. The small hairs on the back of Sara’s neck stirred, the feeling of being watched making her skin prickle. She turned her head and met a pair of large brown eyes and snarling teeth. A sickening wave of terror welled up from her belly. She froze, feeling her veins turn to ice, the blood draining from her. There he stood, the same creature who tortured, tormented, and then left her to die. Sara’s body shook, not knowing what to do. She wanted to run, but was held captive by his evil gaze raking over her from head-to-toe. 76

**** When she did not follow close by his side, Solron turned back to Sara. Concern hit him upon seeing her face drain of color. He could see her smaller frame visibly shaking and her rigid stance as she stood staring across at a group of Xersons. He immediate put his body in front of hers, blocking her view of their once enemy. Her eyes glanced up and he saw the utter fear in her silver depths. “Star shine, what is the matter? You need not be afraid of the Xersons; they will not harm you.” “It’s him…” Even her voice trembleb when she talked. “Him? You know the Xerson?” Syl came in on her other side, no doubt taking note of Sara’s distressed state. “M-my master, he was the one who—” “Hurt you and left you to die,” Solron finished, suddenly realizing the core of Sara’s fear. “Are you sure, Sara?” Syl asked. A little color returned to her face as she glanced up at Syl. “Yes, as much as I want to, it’s something I will never forget for the rest of my life.” Solron heard the anger in her voice replace her fear. “The Xerson Chancellor Rit is clearly a war criminal and not fit to negotiate with us,” Syl growled. A red blanket of rage fell over Solron’s vision. The low dangerous growl came from him. He wanted to tear the creature apart for what he did to his beautiful, frail human; the scars still on her back, which he saw daily, a testament to the creature’s cruelty. “I shall have him arrested.” Syl stepped away. 77
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Solron shot his hand out, gripping Syl’s arm. “Arrest him!” Solron snorted with disgust. His rage, like a hissing bubbling river of fire flowed through him. “No, I want his blood!” Before the commander could react, Solron grabbed the sword buckled to Syl’s belt, ripped it from its scabbard and vaulted across the table. He ignored Syl shouting his name and demanding that he stop, his focus on one thing: tearing out the Xerson’s throat. He roared at the pressure on his arms; someone gripped him, yanking him back, before he could leap on the Xerson chancellor. Kerr and Melor stopped him before he could attack. “What is the meaning of this attack?” demanded the Xerson, in an evidently fake offended tone. “I come here in peace and your people attack me.” “I shall carve you up and watch you suffer for what you have done to my female, Xerson dog!” Solron yelled, struggling against the Paltaic brothers. “He is justified.” Syl stepped forward. “This Xerson is a war criminal; Sara has identified him as the one responsible for her state when she was found.” “You believe the word of a pitiful human female?” The Xerson glared back at the brothers and at Solron. “Yes, we do; under both Kelon and intergalactic law, I officially arrest you for crimes against the human species.” “His blood is mine; I claim battle rights!” All three of the brothers now turned their attention to him. “Solron, you are not a warrior,” Melron pointed out unhelpfully. 78
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“He issued the challenge, all have heard, if the—” “I accept! I shall defeat this weakling Kelon with ease,” the Xerson interrupted, taking a step forward. “What does this mean?” Sara’s small voice made everyone turn. She stood behind them. The fight left Solron when he gazed upon his mate’s pale face and her confused expression. “It means, female, that I will battle your mate and take you back as mine.” The evil gleam in the Xerson’s eye stared back at Sara. “You shut up. I am not frightened of you anymore. Anyone who picks on someone weaker than them is nothing but a coward. And you, the biggest coward of them all.” The Xerson growled, taking a menacing step forward; Syl stepped up, shoving the Xerson back. “Guards, detain Chancellor Rit until the challenge date is set,” commanded Syl. Kerr and Melron pulled Solron back as a group of soldiers marched in and surrounded the Xerson delegates. They had no choice but to go with them. “Is this true?” Sara asked once the Xerons were taken from the room. “Kelon law states that if two challengers fight over a female, then the winner gets rights to her. You have no reason to fear, Sara, we would not let him have you,” Syl explained gently. “She is mine!” Solron growled. “I will fight the dog!” “Solron, calm down,” Kerr commanded. Sara moved around and touched him on his chest. He gazed down into her worried eyes. Both Kerr and Melron let 79

him go. He pulled her into his arms, soaking in her warmth and sweet scent, helping to calm his rage. “Do not worry, Solron, I will stand in your stead,” Kerr said. “I am unmatched in the arena.” Shock ran through Sorlon at Kerr’s statement. He would fight for him? “No, brother, I will take Solron’s place. His corami needs him. I am a proven warrior,” Melron boasted with a grin. “You were almost killed the last time you fought a challenge,” Syl goaded, humor twinkling in his eyes. “You cannot fight for me. Sara is mine to protect, not yours.” “I think you forget how much you mean to all of us, Solron. You cared for all our mates and continue to do so. You are there for us when we need you. Now, we are here for you.” Sorlon was deeply touched that they would offer to fight for him, but his pride would not let others fight his battles. Did they all really think him so useless? “You can’t fight him,” Sara added. “He is a vicious creature without mercy.” Solron drew in a deep, calming breath and shook his head. “I thank you, all of you, for your offers. But this is not your fight. I only ask you give me time to prepare and protect Sara.” “Of course, we shall protect her,” growled Kerr. “I can help train you,” Melron offered. “No, it will not be necessary.” Already, a plan was forming in Solron’s mind.

“This is suicide if you fight him. You do not have his size or strength. Please reconsider and let one of us fight for you. Think of your mate.” Syl’s tone held a note of pleading. Solron glanced down into Sara’s eyes. She licked her lips and drew in a breath. “I can’t lie and say I’m not scared out of my mind right now, scared I will lose you. I love you with all my heart, but I also trust you, trust you to know and do what is right,” she said with firm assurance. He lifted his head, meeting Kerr’s worried gaze. “I will handle this, Commander.” “Very well, I will call another healer to take care of the injured. Take your mate home and do what you must to prepare. I will arrange a morning battle, while the surface is still cool,” said Kerr. Solron nodded, his arm firmly around his mate. They walked from the conference room, their heads held high. His mind was on what he needed to do. **** “Please help me understand why you must fight him.” Sara waited to speak her mind to Sorlon, until they were alone in their apartment high above the Kelon city. Holding her tightly against him, he lifted her chin to meet his dark intense gaze. “You are mine, Sara. Mine to protect, mine to love. Your pain is my own. Do you want this vile creature to get away with what he did?” She was sick to her stomach of living her life in fear; what she now feared most was losing Sorlon.

“No, nor do I want to lose the man I love. What do I have to live for if he succeeds in killing you in the arena? Why not let Kerr or Melron take your place?” “Do you have such little faith in me, my love? Do you wish for a stronger, more skilled warrior?” It was an unfair question. She tugged from his arms. “No, never. I want you, always. But it’s why I’m frightened, frightened of losing you.” “I may not be as big or as strong as the other warriors, but I am not without skill or mind. Trust me that I can do this. Let me do this for you, for us.” Sara swallowed the lump in her throat, pushing back the helpless feeling clawing at her insides. “Is there anything I can do to help?” He bent and kissed her forehead. “Would you order us a meal? I need to spend time downstairs in the med rooms.” A knock sounded at the door. Solron stalked to the door, before slapping his hand over the panel. It slid open to reveal Borlon. His expression one of concern, he looked at Solron. “I came when I heard. News is spreading quickly through the city that you will fight the Xerson at morning light tomorrow. We are friends and I have always been fond of Sara.” Sara listened with surprise at Borlon’s confession. “Do not fear, never would I challenge you for her, but I wish to be friends with you both. I offer myself as Sara’s guard and to stand in as your second, if you fall. You know I will take very good care of her if you should fall to the Xerson in the arena.” 82
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“It is appreciated, Borlon, both your friendship and being Sara’s guard, but I will not fall tomorrow.” Solron stood back to let Borlon pass into the room. “How are you faring, Sara?” Borlon asked her. “As well as can be expected, but thank you for coming and thank you for your concern,” Sara said, moving closer to Solron. Borlon nodded, but still she could see the doubt in the other Kelon’s eyes. “But what do you mean by standing in as Solron’s second?” “It means if your mate dies in the arena, I will battle the Xerson, claim and protect you. I hope your mate is right and it does not come to that, for I know how much you love him.” Borlon’s large chest heaved as he drew in a deep breath. “My heart is one of envy for what you both share. One day, I pray that Elron will bless me with a corami of my own.” “I am sure he will.” Sorlon slapped Borlon on the back. “Thank you, my friend, I need to go prepare. Will you make sure Sara eats?” Borlon nodded and Solron took Sara’s hands, drawing her into his arms. She struggled not to let the tear, stinging the back of her eyes, fall down her cheeks. Her breath hitched as he lifted her and covered her mouth with his, claiming her lips in a deep, soul-searing kiss. She was panting for breath when he pulled back. “Worry not for me and trust all will be well. I will not return tonight, but will see you tomorrow morning. And after the battle, we can make those younglings we want.” “You’re not coming home tonight?” 83
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“I have a plan and need to make sure I have everything I need. Will you be alright alone?” She glanced over to Borlon, before giving him a brave smile. “I’m much stronger than I used to be. I’ll be fine. I trust you.” “Thank you, my star shine.” With one last woefully brief kiss, Solron turned, nodding at Borlon, before striding out the door. She had to believe in him, had to have faith he could and would win. “It will be alright, Sara. We will not let him fall tomorrow.” She startled at the sound of Borlon’s, deep voice. He now stood by her side as she stared at the closed door her husband vanished through a moment ago. “I hope you’re right.”

Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Chapter 9 Sara wrapped the sandy-colored cloak tighter around her body, despite the heat from the suns beating down on her. Weariness and worry ate at her, making her stomach churn. Her anxiety of being alone no longer plagued her. But without Solron’s arms around her, and the pending battle, her night had been sleepless. Long before the sun began to rise above the domed cities of Kelon, Sara was dressed and ready for Borlon to escort her to the planet’s surface, where she was told the battle would take place. Now she stood by his side, her gaze roaming over the huge sandy arena, which was three times the size of an Earth football field. More than half the population ventured to the surface to witness the battle, the crowd buzzing with expectant energy. The air, although fresh, was hot and dry as she breathed it in. Every part of her body ached with intense anticipation of Solron’s plan, wondering how he would defeat the Xerson. Sara knew he was not as large, or a practiced warrior, but he was smart. ‘I will have faith in my husband,’ she repeated over and over in her head. “Out of the way, you big oafs!” A feminine voice sounded over the lower hum of the male crowed. 85
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
Sara turned to see Tara and Alice pushing their way through, flanked closely by their husbands. “Sara!” Tara rushed forward, grabbed her hand, and pulled Sara into a tight hug. “Oh, my dear, we are so sorry you have to go through this,” Alice said as Tara released her. Alice took her turn to hug Sara. “We’ve come for moral support; Rachel sends her support too, but someone needed to stay with our kids. We couldn’t leave all our twins to our mother-in-law,” Tara said. “It’ll be okay, Sara.” Alice stepped back, looking her in the eyes. “We all love and support you and Solron; our guys won’t let anything happen to your man.” Sara swallowed down the lump in her throat, overwhelmed with the support of her new friends. These women became closer to her in the past few weeks than her sisters ever had in her lifetime. “Thank you,” Sara managed to choke out. “I hate to bring this up, but who stands as Solron’s second if he falls?” Tara asked. “I do,” Borlon answered for her. The sisters stared up at Borlon. “He was my guard while on the ship and is a friend to both Solron and I,” Sara quickly explained. “But there will be no need,” she added, with determined force. Her two friends nodded, giving Sara’s hand a squeeze, but said nothing. A booing and hissing through the gathered Kelons at the edge of the arena pulled their attention. “The Xerson Chancellor has arrived,” said Kerr, his voice dripping with distaste. “I have not sighted Solron yet.” 86
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“He’ll be here,” Melron piped in. “Still, he should have allowed one of us to fight for him.” “If I remember, you ended up in my healer’s bay the last time you fought here.” Sara’s heart leapt in her chest upon hearing Solron’s voice. Melron and Kerr parted to reveal Solron dressed in a black leathery material similar to the Kelon battle uniform. Despite being shorter than his warrior counterparts, his muscles bulged from his shoulders and showed he was not without strength. The two stiletto daggers strapped to his belt held a deadly gleam in the sunlight. Unable to contain herself, she ran to him, throwing herself into his arms. He gripped her tightly against his chest. “I missed you, too, my love. Do not fear, this will be over shortly,” he breathed into her hair. “Then never shall we be parted.” “Where is your sword?” Kerr asked. Sorlon set her down, but kept his arm about her waist. “I have no need of it, Commander. I prefer to battle with the lighter blades.” She saw Kerr’s and Melron’s doubtful expressions and irritation flashed through her. “Why are you always doubting him? Why bother to be here at all, if you don’t think he can win!” she snapped. “It’s why people go to car races, not to see the race, but hoping someone will crash. You may doubt him, but I never will.” She glanced up at her husband. His face was one of pure love and pride. Her heart beat faster in her chest, as he leaned down, then kissed her boldly. Tara laughed. “That’s it, honey, put them in their place.” She nudged her husband with her elbow. 87
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Forgive us, Sara. We mean no disrespect to you or Solron. If you have faith he will win, so do we,” Kerr said, a smile playing on his lips. “I love you, too, my corami. Now wait here, I shall return shortly.” Solron set her aside, striding the long walk into the arena with his head held high. The crowd roared their support. “See, all of Kelon supports your mate,” Melron said. Tara and Alice flanked her, while she watched the chancellor approach Solron. They stood five feet apart from each other. The larger Xerson towered above her husband. She saw their lips move while conversing, but they were too far away to hear what was said. Solron shook his head. The Xerson pointed his long jagged-edged sword threateningly at Solron. The chancellor roared and suddenly charged at Sorlon like a bull to a red flag. Sara’s breath caught in her chest. She placed her hands over her heart, unable to look away. Solron ducked, rolled and struck at the lower part of the Xerson’s leg. The creature howled in pain, collapsing forward. He fell so heavily into the sand he left a deep groove. Solron leapt to his feet and onto the back of the Xerson, delivering a swift blow with his dagger to the base of the chancellor’s neck. The crowd fell in stunned silence. Every eye was on Solron and the now motionless Xerson Chancellor. “The Xerson is dead. No one can survive a blow like that,” Merlon whispered. He stood up straight, before taking several steps away from the dead Xerson, then pointed the blade in his hand at the crowd as he turned in a circle. 88
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“Do not believe for one moment, because some are smaller or weaker than you, that you are better than them. I may have been merciful in delivering a swift death to this creature, but it does not mean I will be so generous to anyone who tries to take or harm what is mine.” His voice rang loud and clear. Sara sobbed as relief flooded her, no longer able to hold back the tears flowing down her cheeks. “Wow, didn’t see that one coming,” Tara said from her right side. The crowd erupted in a roar of cheers, almost deafening Sara. Sorlon dropped the blades in the sand and steadfastly made his way back to where Sara stood, tears streaking down her face. She ran forward, throwing herself into his arms. He caught her easily, lifting her, crushing his mouth over hers. She kissed him back with every ounce of love she had. “How in Elron’s name did you do that?” Melron asked, awe written on both his and Kerr’s face. Solron raised his head. “I am a healer, it is my job to know every part of not only Kelon anatomy, but Xerson as well. I spent last night studying Xerson physiology and the way they moved. I knew exactly where and how to strike. One blow to cripple him, a second blow to kill. If I was any larger or slower, then it would have made a difference.” “I think we should put this in our training manuals,” Kerr said. “Brawn doesn’t always win out over brains, honey,” Alice commented to her husband. He smiled lovingly down at his wife. 89
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“If you please, Commander, I wish to take my mate home. I am done here,” Solron stated firmly. “As you wish.” The commander turned and yelled for a path to be made clear. He picked Sara up into his arms and carried her through the crowd. “I once heard a life lived in fear, is a life half-lived. No more fears, star shine.” She gazed into his dark depths. “No, no more fears, only hope and love.” “Good, let us go make those younglings we want.” He grinned. “Today, I believe nothing is impossible for us.” **** Solron carried his Sara into the med rooms, his staff scrambling out, tactfully closing the door behind them. He set her down on the healer’s bed, to make sure the door was locked, keeping out all interruptions. Her smile was one of loving pride as she twisted around, sitting up onto her knees. “Once I’ve retrieved a few of your eggs, we’ll need to collect my seed.” Sara’s grin turned seductive, as she hooked her finger at him. “Hummm, why don’t we do your seed collecting first?” Solron grinned. “As you wish.” “Good, now come here, my wonderful warrior doctor, and let me help with that.” His cock jerked in his pants, aching to be inside her, but he knew he couldn’t spill his seed within her this time. She had a pull stronger than a black hole, one he had no wish to resist as he drew closer. She hooked her fingers into the side of 90

his top, and yanked him closer, stunning him with her sudden display of strength. She kissed him, heatedly, deeply. Unable to stop himself, he pulled her closer, wanting to crawl under her skin and spend the rest of eternity there. They were both panting hard when she pulled back. He saw her silvery eyes aflame with desire and passion. “Will you do as I ask?” Her husky purr had him on edge. “Yes, but whatever you do, star shine, we must not forget to get the samples.” He blindly pointed to the table where the specimen collectors were set up. “I won’t forget. Now, take off your clothes and lay on the bed.” He loved the sound of her soft musical giggle. He almost tripped as he hurriedly undid his combat boots and ripped down his pants, carelessly tossing them to the floor. Sara dropped off the edge of the bed to allow him on and he moaned at the pleasure of her hot soft hands running over his torso. “God, I love your body, so masculine and sexy.” Pride ran through him that she found him so attractive. “Is that all you like, star shine?” he teased lightly. “Hummm, for starters.” She licked her lips, her eyes fixed on him, almost matching the hunger he felt deep within. “Lay down please, on your back. I want to explore you.” He met her warm blue gaze; it would damn near kill him, but by the Fires of Elron, it would be worth it. “Anything you wish. I will try to control my impulse to throw you down and mount you.” 91
Warriors of Kelon Book 5: Saving Sara
“I see.” Her dark eyes gleamed with wicked intent. He did as she asked, wondering what she was going to do. Her gaze skimmed down his body. “My, my, this big fellow looks a little angry.” Her hand reached out curling around his throbbing, hard cock. He hissed at her scalding touch. So good. She moved her body over his, her hair spilling over her shoulder and brushing against the flesh of his stomach as she carefully touched him, exploring his skin. He burned hotter than the deepest fire pits and groaned when she lowered her mouth, then licked the nub on his chest. He had to fist the side of the med bed, so as not to grab her and flip her over, before burying his cock into her tight sheath. She was enjoying her exploration, and there was no way he was going to stop her. It was a mind-blowing experience— to be pleasured instead of doing the pleasuring. She gave little ‘hummms’ and ‘coos’ of appreciation with each part she tasted. “Soo yummy.” Her voice vibrated against his skin. She shifted her attention lower. Again she took his rod into her hand, examining it. Solron almost choked on his own saliva when she unexpectedly lowered her head and placed a long lick across the duel slits at the head of his cock. Her head lifted; Solron opened his eyes, seeing her surprised expression. Worry shot through him. “Sara, you do not…” 92

His voice trailed off, when he saw the impish grin spread across her face. “You taste salty and sweet.” “Is that good or bad?” Damn, he sounded breathless and needy. He was stunned at what she was able to do to him. Her grin broadened. She went down and gave him another long lick, which had him throwing his head back, arching his hips and groaning loudly. “Oh, yes, very good. I may want to do this more often.” Her voice sent vibrations through his shaft. She took him deeply into her mouth, sucking with ardent fever. The hot wet suction was incredible. When she took him down the back of her throat and swallowed against his shaft, he almost came. She pulled back and took a deep breath. “Delicious.” “Sara, if you keep doing that, we…we need…oh.” “Humm, yes, I want this; be a good boy and don’t move.” She had him in her mouth again, sucking and licking in a strong steady rhythm. Solron was lost. His body tingled with the impending release. “Sara! I am going to” She pulled back, grabbed the specimen bottle and placed it around his cock. Her hot hand continued to stroke him as she lowered her head and sucked his sac. It was all he could take. His release raced from his brain, down his body and into his cock in explosive ecstasy. He spilled his seed into the bottle. His body lax, he felt Sara pull off the specimen bottle, placing it aside. He groaned as her mouth was on him again, licking him, cleaning him. “Next time, I get all of you.” Sara’s voice was still husky with desire. 93

He opened his eyes, gazing at her with the love and awe he felt deep within. “I am all yours, my star shine, and you are mine,” he declared, pulling her into his arms, before kissing her deeply. He tasted himself in her mouth. He hadn’t only saved his Sara, she had also saved him; they owned each other, body, mind and soul, for the rest of time.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Let’s seebreaking it down into a list, I’m a: wife, mother, cook, cleaner, sewer of buttons and darner of socks, waitress, nurse, teacher, gardener (well, sometimes), handyperson, and writer of romantic books, just to name a few. I am obsessed with the color blue, and a chocoholic (Please feel free to send donations to the chocoholic’s cause). I live in a small corner of Australia and have been writing ever since my teenage years, and living in a fantasy world almost endlessly. I have to thank my hubby and kids, who often knock me back to Earth and keep me grounded. In my younger days I discovered romance novels, then paranormal romance. I’m a sucker for the ones where the hunky hero can wield a sword, save the day, and get the lady. I welcome feedback from my readers, so feel free to e-mail me at
