To my husband, my always supportive friend; and to Clarissa for being fun, fair and excellent at her job.
Fighting a full on power blush, Bridgette bit her lip and stared at the naked man, strategically holding a bouquet of flowers and waiting at the threshold of her apartment door. Standing gloriously tall, lean, and built in all the right places, Geoff, the gorgeous tenant in room 206, was a whole lot of yummy. So much that she was having a hard time remembering her manners to invite her knight-without-armor in. A small pile of clothes lay at his feet, and she got a good look at all he had to offer. Moments ago, he had responded to her bloodcurdling scream and barged unexpectedly into her bathroom, to catch her cowering in the buff on top of her toilet seat, her left hand pointing at a large ugly spider that had taken up residence in her bathtub. Thanks to Geoff’s quick, chivalrous act, the hairy, eight-legged misery was now at the bottom of the alley behind their apartment building. Then, he did what any sensible man who had caught his wouldbe-date without a stitch on would do: beg her pardon and leave. Only 1
Without a Stitch Geoff didn’t go far. She could only imagine what went on through his mind. To level the playing field, he’d gone back into the hallway, stripped down to his skivvies, and rang her doorbell like any other hopeful suitor. The irony was, she had taken the time to get dressed before answering the door, and now he was the one without a stitch on. Her gaze lingered on his prominent erection peering up at her. Not only was he gallant, breathtakingly handsome, and brave, he was clearly turned-on by the situation he’d found himself in. What do you do with a naked stranger? She feared if she suggested he put his clothes on, he may feel insulted, yet she wasn’t about to jump into bed with a stranger, was she? Other than a few nosey inquiries to the other tenants, she knew nothing about him. Everyone said he was nice, some said he was charming, and the lady across the hall claimed he was a real hunk, but Bridgette already knew that. For a lack of experience in the sort of situation she found herself in, she did the only natural thing when a visitor came over: invite them in for tea. Clearing her throat, she tried to sound as casual as possible. “Can I interest you in some tea or coffee?” He glanced at the heap of clothes at his feet, then back at her. She could see her suggestion had surprised him. A frown marred his smooth brow. His mouth opened a crack as though he were about to protest but seemed to think better of it and closed it again. Had that sounded too formal? Was that what made him so agitated? Did she come across like a prude, a cold fish, or worse, uninterested? She chewed her bottom lip, trying best to salvage the situation. He was there under the noblest of efforts, after all. Not only had he saved her from unknown danger, but he’d stripped down to his birthday suit to save her dignity as well. This date was by far the most interesting one she’d experienced so far. If she played her cards right, she could find out if he was Mr. Right without having to go through the boring standard first awkward dating steps. Most guys assumed she wanted to be wined and dined, enduring hours of mind-numbing questions and answers, when she would rather play a round of laser tag. She had a quirky sense of humor that scared off most guys, so the effort never seemed worth it. They usually put up with whatever kind of silliness from her, though, as long as they thought there was a chance she might sleep with them.

Tara S. Nichols Had she opened the door to find Geoff standing there in those formal clothes, she probably would have just quickly closed it again. “Trust me, it’s far friendlier in here than out there in the hall,” she prompted. “I’ll take those lovely flowers off your hands and put them in some water.” “Uh, er, sure,” he stammered, letting her pry the flowers from his fingers. Then he bent quickly to gather his shirt, socks, underwear, and pants. Hugging them tight to his waist, he swallowed visibly and took a step forward. She wasn’t in a hurry to move out of his way, wanting nothing better than to feel his hot, naked skin brush against hers. She decided she liked having the upper hand. Mischievous was her middle name; he just didn’t know it yet. “Just leave your clothes by the door.” She shrugged as if it were merely his coat she was referring to. He stalled, rocking from one foot to the other, suddenly seeming shy. Waiting a moment for him to shuffle past, she closed the door behind him, allowing him that much modesty. Heaven forbid if Mrs. Prederson from across the hall caught him in the buff. She struggled to hide the sly smile tugging at her lips at the sight of his perfectly naked bottom. This was a good test, she thought. Had the situation gone differently, and he hadn’t barged in and caught her naked, she might have simply turned him down. When he paused a few feet into the apartment, she reached to take the clothes from his hands. “Here, I can take those.” He swallowed hard but nodded, his face a deep pink. “Have a seat.” She gestured to the couch by the window, then moved to hang up his clothes in the closet. Looking entirely uncomfortable, he did as she suggested. She turned, her gaze flickering for the briefest moment to his naked form. Now, with him inside her apartment, she finally got a good look at all of him, and what she saw pleased her very much. His closecut hairstyle showed off his shapely head, square but not blockheaded. Broad, sculpted shoulders radiated strength all the way down to his fingertips, and long, muscular thighs rippled with each tentative step he took across the soft carpet of her living room. Kind, thoughtful eyes surveyed the sparsely furnished room, and large strong hands, that could caress every inch of her body, gripped tight to a nearby throw pillow. 3
Without a Stitch A growing heat radiated between her thighs and her nipples had hardened into two diamond points. She smiled at the pleasing contours of his masculine buttocks, which appeared hard, yet pinchably soft, and she nearly dropped the grey pants she held out of sheer distraction. Snatching them up with a jerk, she was startled to see a small condom package fall to the floor. So, he had come in hopes that he would get lucky. Her face burned with the thought. She wasn’t opposed to the idea—quite the opposite, in fact—but she didn’t want him to think she was easy. It had been two years since she’d last been with a man—two long, arduous years where she’d been too preoccupied with her studies to be bothered with a relationship, or even meaningless sex, for that matter. Besides, most men bored her. Here, finally, was one that held her attention captive. Geoff was the first person to distract her, to remind her there was life outside of neurological science. He was special, yes, but special enough to seduce her on the first date? Her hand squeezed tight around the packet. Maybe, but not before she had a little fun with him first. She felt guilty, knowing she shouldn’t be amused by his discomfort, but if it were at all possible, he was even cuter when flustered. While she filled a vase full of water and placed the flowers in a nice arrangement, Geoff found a place on the couch. He was being careful to sit without showing his vulnerable side, and she watched him modestly cover up with the couch cushion. Leaving the flowers on the kitchen counter, she moved into the living room and sat in the easy chair across from him, looking at him expectantly. His mouth fluttered with a nervous, half-hearted smile, and his toes wriggled and twitched. Drawing out the tension might be considered cruel to some, but she had every intention of rewarding him…after they’d established some rules. Ever since an awkward first meeting in an overcrowded elevator, he’d frequented her dreams night after night, and dogged her thoughts day after day, but now that they’d broken the ice at last, she didn’t want to blow her chances in getting to know him. He was more than a pleasant distraction. He was a very logical possibility. She figured their continual awkward incidents had to be fate, serendipity, or karma, telling her to go for it, to act a little reckless for once. “Well, this is nice.” She sighed and ran her hands along her thighs, careful to hide the condom packet against her one palm. “I always thought we should get to know each other. After all, we are pretty much neighbors.” 4
Tara S. Nichols Geoff nodded, but otherwise remained mute. He appeared fidgety, and she could only assume it was because he was naked and she wasn’t. Perhaps he wasn’t used to being vulnerable or couldn’t figure out what her intentions were with a naked man. Maybe he thought she hadn’t noticed. She had played it pretty cool, after all. “I don’t think I really got the chance to say it, but thanks for coming to my rescue.” His eyebrows arched up, expressing polite interest. “I suppose you think me pretty funny, to react so strong over a little bug, but there’s just something about them that makes my skin crawl.” He cocked one eyebrow up but his eyes flitted across her bare ankle. The slightest twitch of his mouth told her he liked what he saw. Playing up the moment, she casually traced one finger along the small protruding bone, making small, slow circles. His eyes tracked the sensual movement and she silently cheered, feeling triumphant his silence meant she had his rapt attention. “I detest spiders,” she continued, knowing he would only be half listening to her words. “Yet they really seem to like me.” She smiled sweetly. “I phoned the super immediately after you left, but I’m afraid I was a little irate. Still”—she swallowed, finding it difficult to act oblivious to the fact that he was the only one naked—”as the building’s caretaker, he’s obligated to inspect the spider infestation after all. That was the tenth arachnid appearance this week, and this last one was by far the largest.” Geoff appeared to be listening as she rambled on, but his attention returned to the closet often. She noted how his fingers knotted and unknotted in the silk tassel threads of a pillow. So, he was still tense, she mused, and figured it was time to put him more at ease. Perhaps he was trying to plan his escape, or think up an excuse to fetch his clothes. Whatever the case, she figured she didn’t have long before he broke into a sweat. Her fingers leaving her ankle, she leaned forward until her breasts touched her knees, intentionally creating a gap in the wide neckline of her top. His gaze lifted to the swells of her breasts she knew would be visible at that angle. She pretended to pick something off the floor, giving him time to notice and hopefully appreciate the view she was offering. “The flowers were a nice touch, by the way. Old-fashioned charm is rare these days. Most guys knock on a girl’s door with their pockets

Without a Stitch stuffed full of condoms, but not you, you even dressed up.” The small package she still held had become quite hot. He blushed deep red at the mention of the condoms, and she knew she had him. “Oh, by the way.” She tossed the condom over and it landed on the pillow with a light tap. “Do you take your tea with milk or sugar?” Geoff didn’t answer. His mouth fell open, and he stared at the condom in his lap. Smiling at his obvious discomfort, she stood. “I guess I better put the kettle on.” Acting the role of a good host, she promised to be right back and disappeared into the kitchen to prepare the tea. Curious how he would react to her knowledge of the condom, she kept an eye on him as best as she could from where she busied herself with the kettle. He hadn’t tried to apologize or make excuses, thank goodness, but still; she longed to know what he had been thinking. Perhaps he was the “just-in-case” type who always carried one on him, and her finding it was really no big deal. The whole time he sat frozen to the spot, she figured he was warring with whether he should stay put or dash out the door. She moved quickly, not wanting to be gone too long, or her joke to go so far that it became cruel. After all, she knew, upon first glance of his naked form, she wanted more. A little flush of heat rose to her cheeks. She pulled the neck of her top and fanned her overheating body. Her panties had become wet enough to be a distraction, and she nearly poured orange juice into the cream pitcher instead of milk. She imagined his strong hands caressing her body, his muscular arms flexing as they braced his body above her, the pleasing pressure of his hips grinding against hers… The sharp cry of the kettle’s whistle snapped her out of her fantasy. She’d tortured him and herself long enough. Feeling a little adventurous, she slipped out of her sweater and pants, letting them drop softly to the floor. After a moment’s hesitation, her bra and panties followed quickly after. Then, taking a deep breath, she picked up the tray containing the teacups and teapot, and leaned as seductively as she could against the doorway leading into the living room. Geoff was on his feet, a pillow clutched tightly to his groin, when he spotted her. Stopping midstride on what must have been an attempt to escape, he looked utterly shocked. His eyes went wide as he
6
Tara S. Nichols took in her naked form behind the tray and teapot, and the pillow fell from suddenly slack fingers, to reveal a semi-hard erection. “My, my,” she giggled. “You recover quickly.” “I thought…” he started, staring openly first at her breasts, then to the junction of her thighs. She cleared her throat, bringing his gaze back up to her face. He blinked in rapid succession and started to explain. “I was just—” She cut him off with a tsk. Walking over, she set the tray down on the coffee table, and then stood up straight, letting him soak up her naked glory. “I never did get to take that shower,” she purred, pretending to brush a speck of dust off of his shoulder. His skin was surprisingly smooth and hot. Dropping her other hand down, she leaned in a little closer. “Would you care to join me?” The backs of her knuckles brushed against the soft skin of his cock, and she felt it twitch in response. “Um, w-why yes, w-what a pleasant surprise,” he stammered, his eyes large and round in disbelief. Stealing a glimpse to his groin, she smiled to see that his earlier nervous state hadn’t affected his ability to get hard. There blossoming right before her was a thick, long, and ready-for-action cock. She had fully rekindled his interest. Holding her hand out, she waited till he took it and led him back toward the bathroom, to the room where it had all began. “I take it you’re not upset about the condom?” he dared to ask once they reached the door. “I admit, I was taken by surprise and a bit disappointed to think you might have assumed I’d be that kind of a girl.” He opened his mouth and started to shake his head. “After staring at your naked body for so long, I think it just might come in handy,” she continued. He followed her into the small bathroom, and she was silently grateful that she’d taken the time to clean the place earlier that morning. There wasn’t much space for two people to move about, but for some reason, neither of them minded bumping in to one another. When she’d spun around too fast and knocked her bottom against the edge of the sink, Geoff had instinctively reached out to steady her. She smiled gratefully then blushed when she realized he was finally touching her. His hand felt like a hot brand against her waist. He stroked her skin with the pad of his thumb, and the dull throbbing 7
Without a Stitch ache to have him rocking between her thighs grew to an urgent need. There was no chance they weren’t going to take that condom for a test drive. In fact, she was wishing he’d thought to bring more. “This is where it all began, you know?” She indicated toward the bathtub where she’d first had her fright that had caused Geoff to catch her in the buff. “Right here?” He finally spoke. His voice cracked and then evened out into a husky purr. Lust filled his eyes as he stared into her face. His thumb continued its stroking, gradually travelling lower until it grazed the fine line of hair she maintained in a tidy triangle at the top of her mound. She groaned and thrust her shoulders back, inviting him to push her breasts up and closer to his opening mouth. She gasped when his lips finally wrapped around one stiff nipple. Moving his hand to the curve of her waist, he pressed his hard cock against her hip, walking her backward toward the edge of the sink. She felt the cold porcelain against her buttocks. “Weren’t we going to get wet?” he asked. “Oh, I’m way ahead of you,” she teased. “But I think a little cool down would keep us from spontaneously combusting.” She fanned her face with her hand. “You’ve got me so hot.” His lips brushed against her shoulder once more before letting her go, so she could tend to the bathtub taps. Out of habit, she peered down in to the bottom of the tub, making sure they would be alone. When she was sure no arachnids were present, she turned the cool water on, tested the temperature to make sure it wouldn’t ruin their fun by freezing them, then pulled Geoff in after her. “Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t usual for me.” She picked up a bar of almond-scented soap and winked as salaciously as she could muster. “But ever since that day in the elevator, I’ve fantasized about doing this very thing.” The cool water splashed down upon them, making his nipples as stiff as hers. Circling one dark areola with her fingers, she grasped his nipple and pinched it gently. “Really?” He grinned, clearly pleased by her confession and the attention she was paying to his body. “Had I known, I would have knocked on your door a year ago.” She felt his hands rest lightly over her hips. His touch increased the fire within her, making her angle closer until his hard cock lay against the soft swell of her belly once again. “I, too, have imagined doing this very thing with you, touching 8
Tara S. Nichols you, taking my time, though, in my fantasies—and your bathtub was significantly bigger.” He trailed one wicked finger up along her abdomen, around her right breast, and stopped just at the sensitive hollow of her throat. “I pictured my tongue tasting you here…” He closed the distance between them, acting out his words. His tongue grazed her skin, and she sucked in a shaky breath. His moved so his mouth was near her ear, and she shuddered with pleasure when he sucked the small lobe in between his lips. “Ohh,” was all she could muster. Using his left hand, he cupped her bottom and pulled her against his erection, the length of his shaft parting her lower lips and creating a pleasant drag against her clit. She had to place her palms against the wall to keep them from toppling over as he pressed down hard, rocking his hips in a steady, persistent motion. Kissing a path from her lobe to her chin, Geoff closed in on her mouth, his tongue dancing around hers as she responded with equal gusto. Unable to do much other than brace herself, she moaned each time his length drew across her swollen clit. After a moment, Geoff broke the kiss. He pulled back, his lips reddened, his breathing fast and hard. “There’s no hesitation left in me. I want you, Bridgette.” “I can certainly see that.” They both looked down at the erotic sight, and she sighed. “No, you don’t understand. I want you, to be with you, not just once, not just to have sex with—although, this is very nice.” Her heart swelled with happiness hearing him speak so boldly about his feelings for her. : If she wanted any clearer indication that giving Geoff a chance had been the right one, she’d found it. “It certainly is, and I must admit, it’s sure nice to hear you say it. A girl tends to wonder, but I’ve been ready for this for a long, long time.” “For me, or for sex?” “Considering you’ve been staring in my fantasies for the past year or so, I’d have to say both.” “Well, here I am, in the flesh.” He thrust against her again to punctuate his point. She moaned. “I was wondering what took you so long,” she teased. “The way you dressed, I never would have taken you for the shy type.” “I’m not, but when it comes to you, I just—” 9
Without a Stitch “Geoff?” she cut in. “Yeah?” “I really like you too, but I’m going to explode if I can’t feel you inside me soon.” She finished off with a firm, demanding kiss, knowing if they kept dissecting events, they’d talk themselves right back into being self-conscious and awkward. Encouraged by her brazen statement, Geoff grinned, lathered up the bar of soap, and placed his hands over her breasts. Suds ran down her contours, tickling in a way that only added to her arousal. When the water had washed all the soap away, he brought her mouth down over one nipple and sucked the tender point. A jolt of pleasure went straight to her throbbing clit, and she moaned her approval. Thrusting her head back, she allowed him better access so he could dote the same attention on the other nipple. Once again, Bridgette was glad she had given Geoff a chance. No other lover had driven her so sexually wild before, and they’d only just started. It wasn’t just that he was handsome, fit, and talented with his hands and mouth. It wasn’t even the fact that he had a big beautiful cock sliding against her soaking wet body. Geoff was a perfect mixture of tough and sweet, of innocent and sly that intrigued her every time she saw him. He made her want to lay him out all comfy-like, then spank his bad boy bottom. He apparently didn’t notice her admiring him, but now he was all hers. Fumbling blind as water trickled into her eyes, she cupped his tight sac and heard his breath catch. Her fingers wrapped around his shaft, and she began to stroke the taut flesh up and down. His eyes closed with pleasure as she gently squeezed his erection. It felt like an iron rod sliding against her palm. His hips rose and flexed with each caress. It wouldn’t be long before they would need to find that condom. Heaven knew she wanted him badly. Before she could mention it, he turned her around and positioned her so her feet fit into the arm rests recessed into the sides of the tub. He knelt down on both knees and brought his mouth to the apex of her legs. His tongue slid through the groove of her outer lips and flicked over the sensitive bud of her clit, driving sensations unlike any she’d experienced rippling through her. She gasped and tightly gripped the curtain bar above her head as water cascaded down over top of them, and an orgasm surged forth just from the mere presence of his tongue. Blinking with amazed wonder, she gazed down at her talented lover. He pulled back just enough to look at her. “I must say, water really becomes you.” 10
Tara S. Nichols “I think it’s got a lot more to do with you than the water.” She giggled as he helped her down. She pressed against him fully, intent on reciprocating when his muscles tensed and his head went up. “What was that?” She listened for a moment. “I didn’t hear anything.” He cocked his head to the side then shrugged. “You do realize we left that condom in the living room, don’t you?” He grinned. “I suppose we did.” Reaching up on the tips of her toes, she planted a quick kiss against his lips, and he toppled against the back wall. He slipped down to the bottom of the tub with a surprised expression on his face. Seeing he was unhurt, she rushed to take advantage of the situation. Stepping down, she all but tackled him. They slid against each other, laughing and wriggling in the bottom of the tub, the bar of soap beneath them making everything all that much more slick. A moment later, Geoff stopped laughing. His elated expression took on a perplexed look, and he cocked his head to one side as though it would help him hear better. Bridgette turned her head, straining to hear as well. A loud rapping sound came clearly across the expanse of the apartment. “There it is, again,” Geoff said, his face full of alarm. She shut the tap off and pressed the water out of her eyes with the backs of her knuckles. “Someone is knocking at the door,” she said as though it were no big deal. “Were you expecting someone?” She frowned, thinking hard, but for some reason she couldn’t concentrate. “Not that I can think of. Besides, I’m not in the mood to see anyone but you. Whoever it is will just go away.” She shrugged, partly to reassure him and partly because she had him right where she wanted him. Climbing on to his hips, she brought herself over his hard cock, her pussy lips hovering over him; not close enough that he could enter her, but close enough to make him smile. Rocking back and forth lightly, she teased and stroked his shaft without even using her hands. Geoff moaned with pleasure and shifted to a more comfortable position. “Oh God, my cock is aching.” He gasped. “I think we are going to need to fetch that condom if we’re going to take this further.”

Without a Stitch She nodded and was about to get up when a large shadow appeared in the bathroom doorway. There, standing with his mouth open and his eyes bulging was Mr. Watterson, her poor excuse of a landlord. “Oh my,” he spluttered, taking in everything that was going on in the bathtub. Scrambling as quickly as the slippery surface would allow, Geoff reached for the nearest towel and all but threw it over her. She smiled appreciatively and wrapped the soft cloth tightly around her torso. Finally, Mr. Watterson looked away. “Mr. Watterson, what on earth are you doing in my apartment?” she demanded. He turned his head back cautiously and seemed relieved to see she had covered herself. He cleared his throat. “You did!” he spluttered. “On the phone. I was just on my way to answer your complaint about a spider infestation when Mrs. Heppner, in room 66, stopped me in the hall, claiming she heard a scream and then this flew passed her window.” He held a dustpan filled with dirt and broken glass. “This is the third apartment on this side of the building I have inquired at.” Bridgette had a sinking feeling as she looked at the glass mixed with dirt and garbage from the alley. Mr. Watterson must have scooped everything up into the dustpan. She just hoped it wasn’t everything. It donned on her then that someone might have been hurt when Geoff hurled the glass containing the spider out her window. “Still, what right do you have just barging in here?” Geoff pulled off a rather menacing scowl, and Bridgette silently applauded him. Mr. Watterson swallowed. “Your tone on the phone was rather threatening, Bridgette, stating the situation was out of control.” Bridgette blushed. She could be intimidating when she wanted to. “I heard sounds coming from inside through the door so I knew someone was home. When I knocked and no one answered, I came in and heard talking in the bathroom but the door was wide open. You advised me to do something about it or you would go to the authorities, and if you recall in section six of the tenant agreement, a landlord has the right to—” “All right, all right.” She held her hands up in defeat. Mr. Watterson had the ability to quote landlord law until his audience was blue in the face. She’d once seen him get into an argument with a police officer and win. 12
Tara S. Nichols “The point of the matter is this.” He thrust the dustpan out in front of them. “It didn’t take too much detective work to figure this glass came from your apartment.” Some of the glass shifted and a motionless brown lump caught her eye. Bridgette studied the mess with growing horror. Among the dirt and the debris, one long, hairy leg stuck out. It twitched, and then began to stir. A chill crept over Bridgette’s skin. She’d recognize that ugly bug mug anywhere. It was the very same spider that haunted her tub, and she figured it wouldn’t be long before the persistent arachnid, which she’d hoped to be rid of, regained consciousness. “Oh my! It can’t be.” She covered her mouth and looked to Geoff. His eyes went wide as he realized what was upsetting her. “The spider!” Mr. Watterson frowned, peered to the dustpan, then back at them, his face a mask of skepticism. “Nice try.” His mouth twisted into a mocking smile. “I don’t care if you believe us, Mr. Watterson. Just please, toss that back out the window where it belongs!” Another piece of glass shifted among the rubble in the pan, catching Mr. Watterson’s attention. His expression contorted, and then the usually calm, rational man turned into a quaking mountain. He uttered a terrible shriek and tossed the spider, glass, and dustpan high into the air, then tore off through the apartment. The door shut tightly behind him. Bridgette and Geoff watched in silent horror as the spider did an elegant, ten-point backflip, then landed safely on all eight legs, its eager compound eyes always ready and alert to cause more havoc. She looked from the spider to Geoff. Standing in her tiny bathtub, naked, dripping wet, and still hard, he was the definition of gorgeous. He met her gaze and his face softened into a lusty smile. As though he had read her mind, Geoff jerked his thumb toward the door. “My place.” He stated rather than asked. “We can’t get there fast enough,” Bridgette said with a hysterical laugh. “I’ll grab your housecoat.” Feeling adventurous, she let her towel drop and with a sly smile, said, “Or, we could make a dash for it.” Geoff’s eyes twinkled with mischief. “You’re on!” He stretched out his hand and helped her out of the tub.

Without a Stitch Her heart swelled with affection, thinking he was the sweetest, most generous hunk she’d ever spent a naked afternoon with. She could only hope to spend many, many, more naked afternoons with him, but they could discuss all that later. She wanted him and she wanted him now. Heck, despite the fact that they’d only just got acquainted after years of living under the same roof, she hoped to be with him for the rest of her life, preferably where there weren’t thuggish spiders lurking.
